Dear patient,
as one grows old the arteries get thick because of fat deposition and aging. This is called atherosclerosis. Hence the bp rises in old age. In some old patients the bp control receptors and centre in the brain become weak and hence they get low bp. Some of them have weak heart with low ejection fraction. That can also cause low bp. Low BP is usually just a belief, not a disease. In general, the lower the BP, the longer the life. Measure BP only once every year on fixed dates after resting for ten minutes.

- To raise & keep your blood pressure stable :
- have plenty of oral fluids including 2-3 litres of water per day
- have a well balanced diet with more of fruits ,vegetables, whole grains & proteins
- sprinkle extra salt on prepared food before consumption
- monitor BP, do investigation, blood hemoglobin to rule out anemia.
- To raise & keep your blood pressure stable :
