Hi, Self breast examination is the best way done at home to detect the lump. Any swelling increasing in size, nipple discharge, nipple retraction, swellings in the axilla, skin nodules over the breast are the major symptoms of breast cancer.
Clinical breast examination is advocated for all patients along with mammogram above 40 years as a routine. Younger patients with any family history can get checked earlier with USG of both breasts or with MRI breast.

Not necessarily all breast cancer are genetic. Most of them are due to life style related or due to hormonal imbalance. Still you should do breast self examination on monthly basis five days after periods are completed and after forty or may be earlier you can go for annual mammography.

Are you taking hormonal tablets and going for regular follow ups to rule out relapse. If yes then get dexa scan done to rule out osteoporotic bones and take a proper healthy diet. Usually post treatment it may take an year or so to regain power and immunity back to normal. Some hormonal tablets can cause weakening of bones and lack of calcium causing pain and tiredness. You can also get pet scan done to rule out any recurrence.
