Flawless Beautiful Skin - Steps You Must Do Daily!

Radiant, supple and youthful looking skin is everyone’s dream. However, due to pollution and incorrect nutrition habits, your skin tends to show signs of aging before it is supposed to.

To reverse the signs, you can avail certain daily habits, which will make your skin look radiant and keep it young for a long time:

  1. Hydrate inside out: It is crucial to drink water as it cleanses your skin from within and flushes out toxins, making it look radiant. Along with drinking enough water, you also need to use hydrating lotion and serums which moisturize and protect your skin from infections and bacteria.
  2. Increase your intake of Vitamin C: Many studies have proven that including more amount of vitamin C in your diet will help you keep your skin younger for long and keep aging signs such as fine lines and wrinkles at bay. Include more vitamin C rich food in your meals, such as citrus fruits, sprouts and bell peppers because they are crucial for the formation of collagen (building blocks of the skin) in your skin.
  3. Eat sorbitol rich fruits: A particular humectant (a substance that is used to retain moisture) called ‘sorbitol’ is responsible for adding sweetness to grapes, berries and plums. Including sorbitol rich fruits in your diet is a great solution as the humectant helps in absorbing and retaining moisture in your skin. The moisture content in your skin helps in keeping it radiant and youthful.
  4. Exfoliation is a must: Along with the basic skincare routine of cleansing, toning and moisturizing, you should also be exfoliating your skin. Exfoliation means removing a layer of dead skin and impurities by mild scrubbing. You can use a loofah or a pumice stone to exfoliate and get rid of the dead skin. Doing it once a week will ensure clean and clear skin which is free of impurities.
  5. Cut down on your dairy intake: Dairy products, including the organic ones, contain cow hormones, which stimulate the oil glands and pores in your skin; which is the main cause of acne and pimples. By cutting out dairy products, you can get an oil free, radiant skin. If you still feel the need to include dairy in your diet, opt for skimmed milk over full fat.

Radio Frequency - Know Merits Of It!

Radio frequency (RF) is an energy treatment used in nonsurgical skin tightening. RF is ideal for people who do not want to go under the knife or believe that they are not old enough to do so (mostly applicable for people between ages 30 to 50). RF energy is mainly used to treat skin elasticity and mild to moderate facial tissue sagging. It is mostly used to treat the under-eyes, forehead, neck, jawline, mid-face and cheeks.

What is RF?
The number of waves per second in the electromagnetic spectrum is called radiofrequency. When used in a facial treatment, the waves produced, once they come in contact with obstacles (loose skin, wrinkles, etc.), will flatten the obstruction. So, when used to tighten skin, it improves the tissue structure lying underneath and smoothens the skin's surface. RF is an excellent method since it goes deep into the skin, down to the subcutaneous (lowermost) layer.

Benefits of RF
Radiofrequency can improve the sagging skins in the following areas:

  1. Tightens skin of forehead and lifts brows
  2. Thickens skin under the eyes and lifts the upper cheeks
  3. Lift cheeks marginally and reduces enlarged pores
  4. Reduces jowls and tightens sagging skin along the jawline and midface
  5. Tightens skin around the neck

Risks of RF
The risks or complications of radiofrequency include:

  1. Deep, brief sensations of heat can be felt on the skin's surface.
  2. Treatment can get uncomfortable or painful, depending on your pain tolerance.
  3. Blisters, bumps, redness and swelling around the treated areas.
  4. Sunken appearance on the treated area due to excessive tightening of the underlying tissue.

Botox - Who Are Eligible For It?

When it comes to skin care, there are numbers of options that start from regimen of cleansing, toning and moisturising to other procedures which can help in repairing and preventing skin problems. Fillers have become commonplace as far as preventing wrinkles and fine lines go. One of the most popular ingredients is Botox which is technically known as Botulinum Toxin Type A. It is used to prevent wrinkles on the face. Let us get to know more about Botox.

How it works: Botox can be used for a variety of purposes and ailments that cause muscular conditions and problems. Botox helps in paralyzing the muscles on a temporary basis so that the wrinkles can be removed cosmetically and the onset of further wrinkles can be prevented. It does so by blocking the signals that come from the nerves to the muscles. When this happen, the muscles that have been injected cannot contract and turn into wrinkles with the onset of age. These muscle contractions usually softens the skin and by causing them to relax. The lines that are a result of this action can be seen on the forehead, and other areas of the face in the form of crow’s feet and frown lines.

The Procedure: The administration of Botox is done with the help of a fine needle injection. Generally, the patient does not require any anaesthesia during the process. The needle is inserted to specific muscles. The procedure usually gives rise to minor discomfort. The effects can be seen at least a week after the procedure has been conducted.

Medication: For any pain and discomfort that comes as a result of the procedure, one can take pain killers like aspirin as well as anti-inflammatory medicines that can help in reducing any inflammation which may come as a side effect of the injection. The anti-inflammatory medication can also protect the skin from any kind of bruising.

Side Effects: While temporary bruising may be seen in some cases, one can also experience headaches that may last for a day or two after the procedure. Droopy eyelids may also be experienced by some patients, which usually clear up in three to four weeks. One should not rub the area where Botox has been administered for at least 12 hours, to avoid excessive bruising and inflammation. Also, one should lie down for a few hours after the procedure to give the skin some rest.

Candidates: Anyone who is pregnant or suffering from a neurological condition should not go in for this procedure. The effect of the injection lasts for about six months after which the muscle action returns. Around this time, the injection will have to be administered again in the affected areas.

Chemical Peels - Types Of It!

A spotless, flawless complexion is what we all crave for. But owing to several environmental and genetic factors, your skin gets affected and gradually loses its glamour. Chemical peeling is a cosmetic treatment used to improve your skin’s appearance. Chemical peeling can effectively treat the following skin conditions-

  1. Fine lines and wrinkles
  2. Age spots
  3. Sun tan
  4. Acnes and scars
  5. Melasma
  6. Hyperpigmentation

Types of Chemical Peels-
Chemical peels are of three kinds, namely-

  1. Superficial/light peel- perforates the outer layer of the skin by using mild acids such as alpha-hydroxy acid.
  2. Medium peel- this is more effective for repairing damaged cells. Medium peels use glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid to penetrate the outer and middle layers of your skin.
  3. Deep peel- uses trichloroacetic acid or phenol to reach the middle layer of the skin and repair skin cells that are damaged.

How is the treatment done?
Chemical peel is an out-patient procedure, meaning the patient does not have to stay overnight at the hospital after the treatment is done. Here is how chemical peels are done-

  1. First, your face will be cleansed and your eyes will be covered with a gauze or goggle.
  2. Your doctor will apply a chemical solution typically made of trichloroacetic acid or glycolic acid or salicyclic acid (depending on the type of chemical peel you opt for) on the face. The solution is left on for a few minutes.
  3. Once the treated area begins to whiten, your doctor will apply cold compress or a neutralizing solution on the skin.
  4. For patients opting for a deep chemical peel, local anesthesia or a sedative is given to numb the treated portion.

Post-treatment Guidelines-
After the procedure, patients will likely notice redness or swelling on the treated portion. For that, you must follow these measures-

  1. Apply an ointment, say petroleum jelly, on the skin
  2. Apply ice packs to soothe the skin
  3. Use over-the-counter painkillers to get rid of the pain (as prescribed by the doctor)
  4. The new-age chemical peels usually take about two weeks to replace the damaged skin with healthier, smooth skin, and the best thing about the procedure is that there is no age bar. Anybody can opt for this treatment.

So now that you know why chemical peels are the secret to perfect skin, what are you waiting for? Consult a dermatologist, feel free to have a detailed discussion on the skin condition you want to get treated for, and bid adieu to age spots an dark patches, forever.

HIFU Technique For Face Anti-aging!

HIFU Technique For Face Anti-aging!

HIFU or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is a new-age skin lifting, anti-ageing treatment, particularly for the neck and face. High-intensity ultrasound waves are focused on the dermal and deeper dermal layers of the skin. People above age 30 with loose sagging skin, wrinkles, double chin and jawlines are a good candidate for HIFU treatment.

How does HIFU technique work?

HIFU uses ultrasound energy on targeted skin layers below the surface. When the ultrasound waves pass through the skin, they generate heat, and the heat stimulates controlled tissue damage that further leads to the production of collagen. Due to the formation of new collagen, the previously loose skin becomes firmer and tighter. Since the heat energy is focused on the tissues beneath the skin, the upper layers of the skin and its adjacent tissues remain undamaged.

Step-by-Step Procedure

No special preparation is required before going for the HIFU procedure. Make sure you are not wearing any make-up prior to the treatment. The steps of the procedure are explained below –

• A dermatologist will first clean the targeted area
• To minimize discomfort and pain, you will be given a topical anaesthetic cream
• Ultrasound gel will be applied before placing the ultrasound device against the skin
• The specialist will adjust the device to the right setting with the help of an ultrasound viewer
• Short pulses of ultrasound energy are directed to the targeted area for about 30-90 minutes
• Once the procedure is over, the ultrasound device is removed

You might feel tingling and heat while the ultrasound energy is being applied. However, to ease these symptoms, pain medications can be provided.

Benefits of HIFU

The High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound technique has several aesthetic benefits, including the following –

• Wrinkle reduction
• Works well for double chin
• Skin tightening – the device works fine for sagging skin
• Face lifting – cheeks, eyelids and eyebrows, and neck
• Enhancing jawline definition
• Skin smoothening

Moreover, the procedure involves fewer risks and complications because of its non-invasive nature.

What to Expect After the Treatment?

The best part of HIFU technique is that the patient is able to get back to normal activities immediately after the procedure is done. Mild swelling or redness may occur, but that should subside soon.
The effects are observed within a month and usually last for about 8-12 months, depending on the patient’s lifestyle. Studies reveal that nearly 94% of people who went for HIFU technique experienced improved skin texture and appearance, which lasted for almost 6 months.

HIFU treatment is considered an effective and safe procedure for those who wish to improve their skin texture and eliminate signs of ageing and facial wrinkles. The ultrasound waves used in the technique stimulate collagen and production of elastin to give you a more youthful appearance. However, the procedure has its own limitations. It may not work well for those who have photo-damaged skin and severe skin laxity. It is best to take advice from a certified dermatologist before undergoing this treatment.

Hifu Technique - Know Utility Of It!

It is a common wish of every individual to have flawless skin. Everyone wants skin sans spots, wrinkles or marks and this increasing demand has created a market for anti-aging, anti-wrinkle and other such creams that promise their customers flawless skin. But, these creams do not offer permanent solutions which is why people often opt for treatments such as chemical peels and radiofrequency. These treatments too are not the best.

HIFU or High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound is a new technological method of noninvasive tissue heating and ablation that is being used to treat a wide range of disorders. This method of treatment is mostly used to treat wrinkles, for brow lifting, facial rejuvenation and body contouring.

Hifu is a trusted method for body contouring. Body HIFU is a MMFU, Micro & Macro Focused Ultrasound, technology used for body contouring. By this method, the fat cells of the body are targeted. High intensity and high-frequency energy is focused on the targeted area which causes the temperature to rise above to 56°C in the subcutaneous fat layer beneath the targeted skin area. The cells which get damaged are in a few weeks’ time rejected by the body's immune system.

The high-intensity ultrasound is focused at a depth of 1.3 centimeters on the adipose tissue of the body. Penetrating through the tissues and reaching the fat layer, the high heat destroys the fat cells rapidly. The other surrounding cells remain unaffected and only the targeted cells are treated. The body's natural healing system harmlessly rejects the destroyed fat cells this continues for up to three months. Common treatment areas for body contouring include the abdomen, chest, arms, flanks, hips, thighs, buttocks and lower legs.

Unlike other surgical procedures, this process does not involve any kind of surgical risk. Hifu is a completely non-surgical procedure which does not have any side effects. Even a single session begins to show positive results. A session can reduce an average about one inch of the waistline or help to reduce one dress size or one pant size. The process of treatment is clinically proven and is FDA approved. This method is tested and has proven over the years to be safe. Moreover, being a non-invasive treatment, it saves one from the pain of undergoing any incisions or anesthesia. Being non-invasive, it reduces the risk of infections. The method is comfortable and painless and is also cost-effective. Over the years, the effect of the treatment has been proved to last for about two years.

However, before undergoing any kind of treatment, a doctor must be consulted to review the person's medical history before the surgery. A person's medical condition may hinder the procedure or limit the effects of it so it is best to have complete knowledge and information about the treatment that one is planning to undergo.
