Dear Lybrate user:-
Buckling & laser treatment to treat the retinal detachment is routine procedure. This procedure is mandatory also. U should send previous prescription image, to confirm accurate diagnosis & extents of retinopathy. Excessive pressure created by buckling may cause pain & necrosis of the underlying tissues. Make urgent private consultation with me for further clarification of your eye problems.

1. Retinitis pigmentosa is a progressive disease
2. Speed of progression varies from person to person. I have seen patients going bling at young age of 30 years and I have seen patients having good vision even at age of 50 yrs. So, you can go for 6 months perimetry test and that will guide you the rate of progression.
