It can sometimes be performed working through the ear canal, but is usually performed via an incision behind the ear. ... Type 3 tympanoplasty means some bones were missing or were removed coz they were unhealthy. However, this surgery does give hearing loss upto 40dB. The 2 options available are a repeat surgery to partially improve the hearing or using a hearing aid in the operated ear.

Be specific about your problems, tympanoplasty is indicated for rupture drum
to restore anatomy. Recurrent dischage from ear with proper care should be better. About hearing loss one cannot predict. Operating surgeon can guide u.

Yes she can use hearing aids. But you have to take care of few things
1. Try to go for BTE hearing aids with proper vent in ear molds. Avoid using CICs.
2. Don't use hearing aid whenever there is some ear discharge.

Hi dear. As you told she has discharging ears and fungal infection too .that means she is having otomycosis. Consult an ent surgeon .he will prescribe drops for ear discharge as well as fungus in the ear. Don't just give antibiotics on your own my dear friend. Thanks.
