Anti tb treatment has to be taken regularly at home for six to nine months depending upon the infection. Regimens for treating tb disease have an intensive phase of 2 months, followed by a continuation phase of either 4 or 7 months (total of 6 to 9 months for treatment). This is the preferred regimen for patients with newly diagnosed pulmonary tb.

Lymph node tb is a serious condition with a several months treatment plan. Antibiotics like isoniazid, rifampin, and ethambutol are prescribed by physicians. Oral steroids are also used to reduce the inflammation. In severe cases, surgery is also recommended to remove the large nodules around the neck.
