If you are in good condition as you say, you are indeed fortunate. But you must consult a doctor before quitting this addiction. It is safe but the doctor may want to examine you thoroughly before recommending a proper manner for deaddiction. Otherwise, you may also visit a hospital for deaddiction over two weeks. First of all your history has no points to suggest that you are having ocd. You seems to suffer from anxiety depression with alcohol abuse. Drug combination which you are having are probably not working for you. You can benefit by starting treatment after proper diagnosis. You may consult me or any psychiatrist for management of your problems. Take care.

Hello lybrate-user
your doctors advice is right
ativan and lonazep both are benzodiazepines which cause dependence. Meaning you can get addicted to them.
In the long term the addiction will result in memory disturbances, gait disturbances etc which you must avoid right now.
Reduce it slowly over two months but do reduce it.

Antidepressants though reduce seizure threshold are given in people with seizure disorder having anxiety, depression and ocd. If there is a recent seizure in the past 2 years, they are given under the cover of an anti epileptic, else not. Else it is a safe medicine and you can follow your psychiatrist advise. It will take approx 4 weeks to see the effects though, so be patient. Good luck.

The most effective solution for dealing with anxiety for me personally was waking up early. I am not a morning person but once I tried this, I was surprised how good this made me feel. It helped me find peace and calm myself down. Having so much time in my hand I could do small things that made me happy and I felt a sense of accomplishment just by waking up early. I feel the most anxious during the night- so sleeping early really helped me tackle it to a great extent.

Dear Hardik,
No medicine is safe. Every medicine has both wanted and unwanted actions. Your doctor must have weighed the benefits vs side effects before prescribing. OCD needs a long term treatment. Your doctor knows and will look for its long term side effects.
