I have hypothyroid and using 62.5 mcg eltroxin daily. This week I got tested and my tsh is 4.096 ref range is (0.55-4.78). T3 total is 0.77 ref range is (0.6-1.81) t4 total is 14.6 ref range is (3.2-12.6) now I have to take how much dose daily?

My t3 & t4 were normal & tsh was 17.67. This happen after taking covid vaccination. Since it was vaccination effect thought will be fine without medicines over the time. After year again done test - t3 & t4 were normal & tsh was 20. Decided to show doctor & he advised to start taking 75 mcg thyronorm within 25 days after taking medicine tsh came down to 1.17. Than I reduced the dose to 50 mcg again done test after 20 days tsh was 1.90. My family doctor recommended to take Dr. Reckweg r51 drops along with thyronorm 75 mcg for 3 months. R51 drops I use to take after 45 mins of thyronorm medicine. Followed the same & when I done the test my tsh has come to 7. Is it because of homeopathic medicine? Do I have to take medicine lifetime now? Pls advise.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Madam, when one is on adequate dosage of levothyroxine then tsh is maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l, t3 & t4 are in normal range. That is considered as controlled hypothyroidism. Another aspect is please do not keep changing the dosage rapidly. It take about 6 weeks to see appropriate change in tsh levels. I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in 2012 and since then I am on medication. Currently I am taking eltroxin 75 mcg one tablet everyday. This week I took my blood test in which the tsh level is 5.38 and ft4 is 1.31. The doctor has advised 100 mcg and 125 mcg tablets to be taken every alternate day. Although I asked the possible reason for which I didn't get a satisfactory response from the doctor. Please let me know why suddenly I have been prescribed this kind of dosage.

Increase dose of thyronorm to 100 mcg. Take empty stomach
take iodised salt in salad and fruits. Gap of at least one hour between tablet and tea, avoid cabbage and soybean.

Health Query

I was identified hyperthyroidism in the end of 2021. I started to use 15 mg carbimazole and 40 mg propranolol and now it is reduced to 5 mg carbimazole daily. Now my tsh is 2.6,t4 is 1.6 and t3 is 2.8. I tried to get my partner pregnancy but it always failed. please advice me whether I have to stop the betablockers to get my wife pregnant or should I use radioactive to cure it.

Hello sir,
I can understand your concern. Propranolol may decrease the motility of the sperms. However, I would advice you to not stop it abruptly as there can be some withdrawl symptoms. So firstly you and your wife can visit a fertility clinic or doctor, get the tests and medical advice and then depending on what exactly is the underlying cause, you can plan for next.

I have hypothyroidism, earlier I had 150 tsh level and gone through 100 mcg thyronorm med. I had no symptoms of it though when I had it, I lack healthy body and was very underweight. Which was strange to this condition. Now its 4 years passed and I checked regularly, it was normal. But recent days I took the medicine with food always, I checked tsh level now amd it was 26. When I consulted Dr. he said to increase dose to 125 mcg. So do I need to increase? Or stay with 100 mcg but have before 1 hr before food. Will it solve problem?

However, I would like to know the following: current t3, t4 & tsh levels (26 that you are mentioning is it tsh?) and if you have done anti tpo antibodies test please inform the details. Also it is better to look at your lipids (cholesterol levels). On seeing all the details I will be able to give correct advise.
