Cancer is usually detected when it causes symptoms. Some cancers like cervical cancer (pap smear), mouth cancer (examination), Breast cancer (mammogram) and prostate cancer (PSA level) can be diagnosed at an early stage by screening. Once the cancer is detected, the Biopsy is usually done to confirm the diagnosis (except in kidney or brain cancer). Imaging may be done to see the local extent and distant spread of cancer.
