Breast cancer as the name suggests is cancer that starts in breast. It generally starts with a small lump in the breast. If not treated on time can progress to involve the whole breast and may even spread to other parts of body.
No specific cause but increase exposure to hormones, not breastfeeding children, having late children, postmenopausal hormone therapy, obesity etc are some of the known risk factors.

It depends on what symptoms do you have.
It is less likely the cancer does not deteriorate for 4 years.
So it is less likely to be cancer.

Was she feeding her baby ? Most common cause of breast infection is breast abcess due to collection of extra milk , reason women are told to extract extra milk and store it in fridge. Other reasons are Diabetes , Bad Hygiene. You have got tested for cancer , get it repeated after 1 year by ultrasound which is equally correct to look for swellings and like mammography does not carry radiation risk.

Falling of hair is not the symptom of cancer. It can be caused by some chemotherapy drugs, which is also temporary. Cancer can present as lump, ulceration, abnormal bleeding from anywhere, weight loss, abnormal bleeding or periods etc it depends on area effected. As a female you should go for monthly self breast examination five days after the periods are over and be aware of any abnormal symptoms which is not going after routine medication then you must consult your doctor.
