that hanging thing behind the throat is varied among people from 0.5 cm to 1.5 cm but being said that length have no concern, unless it hinders produce discomfort.
In your case if you find redness in throat any pus dropelts and soar throat please consult privately for further medication regarding your condition.

-Do warm salt water gargles three times a day
- avoid fried, spicy & junk foods
- have more of warm fluids including water, tea, coffee, milk & soup, avoid all cold fluids and refrigerated foods
- take a pain relief tablet after meals if pain is there while swallowing
- avoid dust, smoke & pollutants.

- have plenty of warm fluids including water, tea, coffee, soup, avoid all cold fluids & refrigerated foods
- take cough lozenges twice a day
- take pain relief tablet after meals if pain is there
- avoid fried, spicy & sour foods
- if not much improvement in 2-3 days then consult a doctor as you may require a course of antibiotics.
