How Good Is The Stem Cell Facelift?

A stem cell facelift includes face grafting. It is used for removing the unwanted and extra fat from an area of the body and then transfers it to the face. The fat in our body contains naturally regenerative cells. These also include blood vessel producing cells, adult stem cells and growth-secreting cells. With this facelift, the person’s own cells are infused into their superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) as well as under the facial muscles. When these meet with the aged facial tissues, they generate new and healthy tissues that give you rejuvenated skin.

Here is how this treatment is a great procedure:

  1. Eliminates Loose Skin: This procedure tends to reposition the patient’s tissues by adding volume and stretching skin..
  2. A Better Body Contour: This procedure starts with a gentle liposuction technique. It removes the unwanted fat from different parts of the body. However, the procedure only targets the stubborn fat that cannot be burnt. This is usually present in the belly, abdomen, hips or thighs. This helps the body in both ways and makes the body appear more slender.
  3. A More Volumized Skin: The fat that is injected, pumps the skin, making it look more youthful. It fills the hollow areas and rejuvenates the wrinkles and fat lines, giving your skin a more youthful and smooth appearance.
  4. Natural Looking Results: The treatment does not make a person’s face look artificial or out of place. It only remodels it in a natural way. The previous surgical techniques used to cut the skin, pull it tight ,therefore it used to appear artificial and plastic-like. With the stem cell facelift, a lot of volumes is added to the skin however, it fits the hollow areas and the wrinkles are smoothened but the skin is not pulled as tightly as before. It makes your skin look youthful and plump.
  5. Less Bruising and Faster Recovery: The conventional facelift methods use scissors and scalpels and it can cause a lot of bruising and bleeding. This stem cell treatment, however, uses an electric knife and it stops the bleeding and cuts. It also helps in a faster recovery.
  6. Customized Treatment: Unlike the conventional methods, this treatment can be customized according to a patient’s need and medical history. Only the areas they need should be rejuvenated, are treated.

A stem cell facelift is obviously better than other facelifts. However, surgeons these days only operate on specific cases where it is genuinely required and not just for simple beautification reasons the same. Procedures like this might cause a lot of money hence; the requirements should be taken into account accordingly. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Cosmetic/Plastic Surgeon.

How Good Is The Stem Cell Face Lift?

The skin is constantly exposed to sun and multiple environmental pollutants, causing a lot of degeneration. The face, being the most exposed part, bears the brunt of this. A number of dark spots, wrinkles, sagging, fine lines, etc. appear as a result of ageing and become very prominent on the face. Not just are these cosmetic concerns, but they also affect the person’s morale.

Origin:
The body has millions of types of cells, but there are some known as stem cells which are totipotent the ability to transform into any type of cell (blood, bone, muscle, skin, etc.) These totipotent stem cells were used earlier in treating sports injuries to repair joints and ligaments. They are present in large numbers in fat and so the affected joint would be injected with fat, and the stem cells from here would help in regeneration of the joint. The same concept was extended by cosmetic surgeons to treat facial ageing problems. Fat extracted from an area (usually abdomen or inner thigh) is injected into predetermined areas on the face. These then act as fillers and help in skin rejuvenation and repair.

Procedure:

  1. Case selection with both the doctor and the patient.
  2. Setting realistic expectations is very important
  3. The area selected for fat extraction is injected with local anaesthesia
  4. The excess oil and blood from this extract is removed by blotting
  5. It is then mixed with growth factors, which are embedded in beads of hyaluronic acid, which allows for prolonged and constant release of growth factors
  6. After thorough mixing, this is then injected into specific areas on the face in multiple planes – usually three, from the innermost to the outermost layers of the skin
  7. The growth factors used for each of these layers also could differ. The second layer could have more of protein (collagen) as it helps in keeping the skin firm.
  8. The topmost layer could have more of blood cells as it is involved in vascular supply
  9. After this, a final resurfacing is done to ensure the fine lines and superficial skin damage is repaired
  10. The face may also be sculpted in specific areas to correct additional features, like the jawline
  11. Fat deposit correction (some addition, some removal) may also be done.

Advantages:

  1. No surgical incision required, only needle incisions to extract and infuse fat cells
  2. Faster healing
  3. Done as outpatient procedure
  4. No hospitalization
  5. No anaesthetic required
  6. No scar, as the fat is used from lesser visible areas like inner thighs
  7. Quicker and remarkable results
  8. Complete facial rejuvenation
  9. Can be done from patient’s own blood or from a donor

Stem Cell Therapy - How It Is Good For Hair Regrowth?

The innumerable problems, complications, and embarrassment that severe hair fall and baldness brings along need no special mention. However, with the advancement of science and technology, effective treatments and therapies have come up to deal with the situation. One of the advanced hair treatment therapies used to deal with hair fall and baldness is the Stem Cell Therapy.

The Stem Cell Treatment is a minimally invasive procedure mainly used to stimulate the hair follicles, ensuring its regrowth. Stem cells, present at the root of the hair are known to promote the hair growth by stimulating the hair follicles. In the case of severe hair fall or baldness, the stem cells either gets depleted or do not mature enough to facilitate the hair growth. In stem cell therapy, the hair loss or baldness is treated by processing these stem cells (hair follicles collected from the affected person) in labs to ensure an increase in the stem cells.

Steps involved in the stem cell therapy for hair regrowth
The stem cell therapy is hassle-free and the time involved in the entire treatment varies from individual to individual (depending on the extent of the hair loss). In people with not so severe hair loss, around two sessions are needed for the entire stem cell therapy.

  • In the first sitting, the practitioner will collect some of the hair follicles. The hair follicles, as we all know contain the stem cells. What the therapy does is to culture and process the hair follicles, ensuring an elevated production of the stem cells.
  • The second sitting (15-20 days post the first sitting) involves the careful insertion of the improved and cultured hair follicles with increased stem cells into the scalp of the affected person. The increased stem cells will now act as a catalyst, ensuring hair regrowth.
  • In most people, the positive results start showing within a month of the stem cell therapy (the full hair restoration takes between 3-4 months).

Advantages of stem cell therapy for hair regrowth
The stem cell therapy, one of the latest techniques used in hair restoration has been a revelation from the word go.

  • Many scientists and health practitioners are of the opinion that this treatment is the safest and the best solution to deal with hair loss and baldness.
  • The stem cell therapy also plays a pivotal role in improving the hair texture to a great extent.
  • A minimally invasive procedure, there are negligible side-effects associated with stem cell therapy.
  • As compared to the other hair restoration procedure, recovery is quick in the case of stem cell therapy.

The stem cell therapy has benefitted many people worldwide to deal with the problem of hair loss with elan. Research is still going on to further improve its effectiveness.

Stem Cell Therapy - Is It The Cure For Baldness?

Hair are an indispensable part of one’s aura and personality. To have thick and voluminous hair adds so much to one’s beauty. It defines one’s image and confidence. Baldness, losing and thinning of hair is of great concern for both men and women. In a stressful and competitive world like ours, people start losing hair at very young age. This is often attributed to our lifestyle, environmental pollution, inadequate sleep, excessive smoking and drinking. Losing hair is depressing as it is a sign of ageing. The cosmetic market today is flooded with products; be it hair fall control shampoos, serums, conditioners or hair masks. Many Ayurvedic remedies are also available for users to try.

However, the truth is nothing offers a tangible permanent solution than a surgery. However, Surgery comes with a host of side effects and is neither advisable nor affordable. Thus, the question is; whether there is any hope for people who want to regain their hair? Well, Aesthetic Medicine is undertaking lots of research on a possible cure for this condition. Recent Research suggests that adult stem cells have the ability to produce different stem cells, thus cells from hair follicles can be utilised to stimulate hair growth. One such research at the University of Pennsylvania, January 2014 described a method to convert adult cells into epithelial stem cells, responsible for hair growth. Many such studies on adult stem cells are underway.

Stem cells are tiny microscopic cells responsible for repair and regeneration of aged and damaged tissues. By now, everyone knows the amazing benefits of stem cells from umbilical cord, thanks to the Stem Cell Banking concept. The good news is that ongoing research on Stem Cells as a non-surgical way to treat baldness now offers a ray of hope for people suffering from hair loss issues.

Stem Cell treatment helps regeneration of damaged hair follicles thus, promoting hair growth. The procedure is simple and painless. It has minimal side effects and requires no hospitalisation. The live hair follicles from the patient’s hair are used to harvest stem cells. The processed stem cells are then carefully and slowly injected into balding areas with the help of very fine needles. Local anaesthesia is used to avoid any pain or discomfort.

Results in the form of visible hair growth, as well as improvement in density and thickness, are visible within a month. Stem Cell treatment is undoubtedly one of the advanced treatments for hair loss available today. Many clinics/ hospitals are now beginning to offer stem cell therapy for hair loss treatment. However, if hair loss is your concern, It is best to consult an expert, ask a free question and get your scalp examined and be assured of the usefulness of this therapy for yourself before deciding to go for the treatment.

5 Important Things You Should Know About Orthopaedic Stem Cell Treatment

Orthopaedic stem cell treatment is an advanced branch of medicine, which can only be performed by a handful of physicians across the planet. If you are considering the surgery and the treatment, you should first know the important factors that can have an impact on the same.

Outlined below are 5 things you should know about the treatment before you schedule the surgery.

  1. Source of the stem cell: The source from which the stem cells have been extracted play a huge part in determining how successful the surgery would be. In case of orthopaedic stem cell treatment, the best place to extract the cells from is the bone marrow. However, in some cases, these cells may be taken from fatty regions of the body and not the bone marrow. This will eventually have an impact on the outcome of the surgery. Bone marrow cells are much more proficient at repairing damages of the bones than stem cells from any other source.
  2. The technique for extracting stem cells: A procedure called the bone marrow aspiration or BMA is used to harvest the stem cells from the bone marrow. However, there is a correct way of doing it and a not so correct way of doing it. For instance, the stem cells need to be harvested using special needles and from several high density spots inside the bone.
  3. Placing the stem cells in the right spot: Just extracting the stem cell properly is not enough. It also needs to be injected at the right place through the correct procedure. The surgeon will use advanced machineries to conduct the surgery, which are essential for the success of the treatment. These could include the use of c-arm fluoroscope, other one is called the ultrasound or may be even an arthroscope.
  4. The correct dosage: This is a gray area, as knowledge needs to be further refined about the precise dosage required for the treatment. Specialised instruments and digital centrifugation systems help in  acquiring and concentrating the necessary amounts of stem cells for the procedure.
  5. Understanding that the treatment works: Since stem cell treatment of any kind is a fairly new concept, most people feel that it may not work as advertised. However, if you go to a reliable facility where such surgeries are performed, you will get to know that not only does the treatment work but there have been several patients whose quality of life has improved greatly. Joint preservation surgery is the field which specialises in management of various conditions by these procedures.

A Cure For Baldness - Stem Cells Could Be The Answer For Hair Loss Sufferers

Hair loss is a very common cause of problem for both men and women. One in four women suffers from some degree of hair loss or thinning hair. In men, balding can begin as early as the age of 21 and by the age of 35, 30% of men will already be experiencing noticeable balding.

All of us suffer from hair fall daily, but only when it becomes area of concern is when it starts resulting in baldness and thinning of hair. In such cases, the patient becomes increasingly concerned about the re-growth of his or her hair in the most effective and less time-consuming manner. Hair loss as we all know can be because of various reasons, the first being, stress which the most powerful trigger for hair loss after the side effects of certain treatments specially after chemotherapy for Cancer patients.

In such cases hair transplantation comes as the first solution to our minds, it not only a highly expensive treatment, resulting in the painstaking effort both by the doctor and the patient. It is a time-consuming process that might give you the desired results even after multiple sittings and a huge cost attached to it. It's also limited by the abundance of existing hair follicles. Other treatments including laser stimulation, pills, serums and shampoos all show limited hair regrowth and do not work well on scalp areas that are completely bare.

Stem Cell Solution

Hair follicles also contain stem cells, and some researchers predict research on these follicle stem cells may lead to successes in treating baldness through an activation of the stem cells progenitor cells. This therapy is expected to work by activating already existing stem cells on the scalp. Later therapy may be able to simply signal follicle stem cells to give off chemical signals to nearby follicle cells which have shrunk during the aging process, which in turn respond to these signals by regenerating and once again making healthy hair. Most recently, some doctors have claimed that stem cell therapy led to a significant and visible improvement in follicular hair growth.

Here, the use of stem cell technology as the cure for hair loss becomes ground breaking. The stem cell therapy encourages the growth of new hair in is very effective and in a safe manner in 3-4 months of therapy. The follicle of hair include stem cells in the centre of the follicle and these cells make sure a constant supply of cells for the fast development of hair cells. These stem cells are gradually lost which leads to baldness in both males and female. This procedure is a non-surgical therapy which results in the re-growth of follicles for healthy and natural hair growth. The stem cells are also capable of renewing themselves through cell division, The follicle of hair include stem cells in the centre of the follicle and these cells make sure a constant supply of cells for the fast development of hair cells. These stem cells are a result gradually lost and this in turn leads to baldness in both men and women.

How Stem Cell Therapy for Hair Loss Works

To acquire stem cell therapy for female hair loss a sample of the patient’s blood will be taken and will be spun to separate out the plasma. Plasma is high in stem cells that can be used for treatment. This will be mixed with a-cells that the body uses to help heal wounds and injected into numbed areas of the head that are affected by baldness. The doctor will then use massages and tiny needles to create wounds in the scalp, allowing the cells to start healing the flesh, complete with generating new and healthy follicles where the originals have been damaged. If you wish to discuss any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

Stem Cell And Other Less Invasive Treatments Benefit Prostate Cancer Patients

Stem Cell And Other Less Invasive Treatments Benefit Prostate Cancer Patients

Stem Cell and Other Less Invasive Treatments Benefit Prostate Cancer Patients

In the United States, the second major cause of cancer death is prostate cancer, next to lung cancer which takes the top spot. One out of every six men over the age of 65 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime, and one out of every 36 will die from the disease, according to research studies. Along with this, stem cell therapy is developed and offered by different hospitals to treat different types of health conditions.

According to a medical study, one type of stem cell evolve from prostate cancer cells, and then developed to look like a different stem cell that makes prostate cancer stem cells a "moving target" for treatments. The study further reveals that there is a small part of stems cells found in each cancer cell that is responsible for the continuance and progression of the disease.

Early detection of cancer can prevent the cancer cells from spreading and raises the survival rate to 100 percent. However, once the cancer reaches stage IV, survival rate significantly drops to 28 percent.

With this, new treatments for the disease have lessened the impact of older, more radical treatments. There are new treatment options that are less invasive and less impact of older, more radical treatments. Incontinence and impotence are some of the complications caused by treatments, such as the complete removal of the prostate gland.

Laparoscopic robotic surgery is a new surgical treatment options that is less radical and invasive. Patients are able to easily recuperate without problems because it is more accurate and easier and decreasing the risk of incontinence. Thus, prostate cancer patients have higher chance of recovering and avoid death with these new treatments.

Medical professionals explain that "less invasive surgery" means less blood loss and quicker healing time. With this, the da Vinci surgical system came into picture. It is a complex robotic platform designed to allow surgeons to make lesser, smaller, and more accurate incisions in doing surgery on patients through the use of its magnified 3D high-definition camera and miniature "jointed-wrist" parts.

However, critics say that the da Vinci surgical system may not be medically required because it may further put patients at risk of serious injury and death. Among injuries that may result from robotic surgeries are burns, lacerated bladders and cut ureters. Some patients who suffered injuries during a robotic surgery have required additional surgeries to repair the damage.

Can Stem Cells Increase Penis Size?

Can Stem Cells Increase Penis Size?

Although there is no factual link between a man's penis size and his sexual prowess, millions of men (and women) continue to conflate the two. It's no surprise, then, that many men are obsessed with their penis size, sometimes going to extreme lengths that could imperil their penis health in order to add some extra length or girth to their member. Many have gotten rich by playing on the vanity and insecurity of men who want a bigger penis, creating products that by and large do not live up to their promise of increasing the size of a guy's member. But several news stories recently talked about a new process one man has tried - using stem cells to enhance his penis size.

About stem cells

What exactly are stem cells? They are early-stage biological cells which can form other, more specific cells. So think of them as being like a lump of clay. When a sculptor starts out, he has this clay which could become just about anything. He can mold it into a dog, a human head, a bench - whatever he wants. Similarly, a stem cell has the potential to turn into any of a variety of other cells.

There are two kind of stem cells, embryonic and adult. Adult stem cells have the potential to create a whole organ from just a few cells because of their replication ability.

Adult stem cells are most easily obtained from three places: the bone marrow, body fat and blood. A scientist gets from bone marrow by drilling into the bone; from fat tissue by way of liposuction; and from blood by extracting the blood and then separating out the stem cells.

Penis size

  • So what kind of connection could stem cells have with penis size? Well, there already have been some small studies that look at erectile dysfunction. One study took stem cells from body fat and injected them into the penises of men suffering from impotence. All 21 of the study subjects reported erectile improvement, some of them to the degree that they could achieve erections without other medical assistance.
  • Recently, an individual - at his own insistence, not due to a doctor or scientist - had his penis injected with stem cells to see if it would affect his penis size. The theory seems to be that because recreate themselves so well and so quickly, they would therefore increase his penis size.
  • However, there has been nothing in previous studies to indicate that a mere injection could have this kind of focused effect. The subject claims that he indeed is bigger now - but he also admits he hasn't taken a ruler and actually officially measured himself. (If he were part of an official study, pre- and post-treatment measurements would be obtained.)
  • More importantly, this man underwent an entirely experimental procedure that has no FDA approval and was not set up with safety protocols in place. (Fortunately, he seems to be doing fine.)
  • It is possible that scientists will create and conduct evidence-based clinical trials to look at the viability of therapy to enhance penis size. But for the present, it is not an accepted procedure.
  • Penis size, whether stem cell-enhanced or not, is not as important as the health of the organ. More men need to focus on applying a top notch penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin) regularly. It's best to look at the ingredients carefully and to select one that contains powerful moisturizing ingredients, such as Shea butter and vitamin E. Also, a crème with vitamin A is recommended, as this vitamin has anti-bacterial properties that help fight persistent penis odor.

Hair Transplant Surgery- Know Its After Care!

Immediately after hair transplantation, you need to exercise little extra care to derive the best benefits. This includes immediate postoperative care, some common with most other surgeries and some very specific to hair transplantation.

The following things will happen immediately after transplant, throughout the first week:

  • Immediately after surgery, like any other surgery requiring anesthesia, there will be slight drowsiness and so it is advisable to arrange for a drive.
  • Expect some mild swelling and soreness that can be managed with rest and anti-inflammatories.
  • There will also be a tight and itchy feeling in areas where transplant has been done.
  • Spray water or saline every half an hour to keep the scalp moist in both the recipient and the donor sites. This promotes healing and also reduces the itchy feeling in these sites.
  • Thermal shock would be applied to areas to damage the existing follicles and new stem cells would be transplanted. This can also produce a warm feeling, sometimes referred to as 'thermal shock'.
  • In some people, there could be scab formation which occurs due to fall of the topmost transplanted hair follicles.
  • If you have undergone a micrograft, then you will have a compression bandage around your head. This should be in place for a day and will cause a tight feeling.
  • Sleep with your head elevated with a couple of pillows.
  • The first day after surgery, hair needs to be washed under the supervision of a physician or a nurse. Use a shampoo, which contains tea tree oil.
  • It is recommended to shampoo your hair regularly from day 2, as it is required to remove the dirt, blood, and oil that often accumulates at the recipient's site. This also helps to controlling infection, which is common post surgery.
  • Wait for at least 14 days before you resume coloring your hair, use of hair sprays, gels, and other hair care products.
  • All transplant surgeries require stitches. If the suture material is absorbable, there is no need to follow-up for removal. If it is not of absorbable material, they need to be removed after 2 weeks' time.
  • Please do not get into a regular exercise routine for up to 6 weeks. Cycling, gymming, swimming, golfing, etc., are to be avoided until the scalp is completely dry and to avoid stretching of the scar.

Everyone's body is unique and responds differently to hair transplantation. Go for periodic review with your doctor to understand how your body is responding.

Erectile Dysfunction: Hope from Stem Cells
Erectile dysfunction is a condition when a man consistently suffers from the difficulty of getting or maintaining his erection during sexual activity.
Erectile dysfunction often caused due to a physical problem that affects blood flow to the penis which prevent erection.

Erectile dysfunction is a quite common problem than one may think. It mostly occurs between the age of 40-70, however, many young men also experience this. It can happen at any age and may occur just once or repeatedly and caused due to either stress or fatigue or bad interpersonal relationship.

Most hurting conditions. No medicine works on permanent basis
Treatment using stem cells has shown great promise.
As stem cells are harvested from patients own body, there is no risk of any transmissible infection or tissue rejection by your body. For the treatment of erectile dysfunction, adult stem cells are used and are isolated from your bone marrow or the adipose (fat) tissue.

Stem cells medicine or therapy is rapidly expanding and highly promising field. Preclinical work on stem cells for the treatment of erectile dysfunction provide a potential cure rather than providing mere relief from the symptoms.
Currently clinical trials are going on for finding the cure of diseases in many infertility clinics however, being a new concept it will take some time for getting worldwide acceptance over traditional medical practices.
