if on cover test, there is no squint then do not worry. Cover test is best test to appreciate squint.

Redness usually goes in a month you should continue to antibiotic & antiinflammatories eye drops prescribed by doctor.

2nd operation in squint is not rare you should consult higher institution for 2nd operation, with regards.
