If squint disappear with glasses, not to worry. If eyes remail sqinting, must go for surgery to avoid permanent one eye vision week. It is not an eye operation and nothing to do with vision loss in surgery. It is an external surgery and quite safe. You must get op. You have not mentioned the duration of having the exotropia. Plan of surgery and whether surgery required or not depends upon many factors.
