When an insect bites, it releases saliva that can cause the skin around the bite to become red, swollen and itchy. The venom from a sting often also causes a swollen, itchy, red mark (a weal) to form on the skin. The affected area will usually remain painful and itchy for a few days.
Let’s discuss your concern in detail so that we can provide you with the best medical plan.

For local skin inflammation, try an anti-itch cream that is at least 1% hydrocortisone. For any bites that may look inflamed, and significantly irritated, you might need to try antibiotic cream. Not the ointment. The ointment can leave an oily residue and the cream does not. Unless showing signs of developing an infection, leave the bite open and uncovered.
