If the bladder becomes too full, urine may back up and the increasing pressure may damage the kidneys. Or urine that stays too long may lead to an infection in the kidneys or bladder. Urine retention may also lead to overflow incontinence.

Incomplete bladder emptying occurs when the muscles of the bladder are not able to squeeze properly to empty the bladder. This can happen in cases where there may have been nerve or muscle damage, perhaps caused by injury, surgery, or disease such as parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and spina bifida.

Hello, thanks for the query.
From the information given it appears to be urinary tract infection and possibility of renal stones. So if pain is severe and keeps coming then you may have to get an ultra sonography of the abdomen done, to rule out if there are stones. Secondly may need some antibiotics for treating infection. Please take plenty of fluids. Thanks.
