Im searching a best seizure medicine which has very low side effect and which do not effect to liver, kidney heart and others organs, my neuro doctor has offered me to choose one medicine from "phenytoin, carbamazepine, oxcarbazepine, eslicarbazepine, sodium valporate, topiramate, levetiracetam, lamotrigine, diavalporex, phenobarbitone, currently i'm taking clobazam 12.5 mg and lacosamide 200 mg per day but nothing improvement. I feels suddenly extreme difficulty till 30 to 50 second, I always remain conscious at that time and can talk with anyone but that difficulty what I feels which is unable to express in words. My mri report show: ring shaped cortical/ subcortical lesion with eccentric dot and blooming on swi and calcification on phage image in the left hippocampal formation with minimal peripheral gliosis/edema. Findings represent calcified granuloma most likely related to neurocysticercosis. Other diagnostic consideration is tuberculosis. 2. Mild increased signal and volume loss of the left hippocampus as compared to right. Finding are suggestive of left mesial temporal sclerosis. Clinical correlation is suggested" while I do eeg test when normal condition always show normal eeg but when 30-50 second extreme difficulty happen during eeg show abnormal ieds: left anterior temporal and there are few sharp wave discharge starting from left anterior temporal region. Now according some above report which medicine is the best for me please suggest. I want to change medicine lacosamide and clobazam. Thank you.

Every medicine affects some organ systems. As they get metabolised or excreted or turn into active metabolite. Levetiracetam does not affect liver and is well tolerated but it does negatively affect kidney function.

Im suffering from a kind of seizure since 7/8 year more, I had been diagnosed calcified granuloma at temporal lobe region, and mesial temporal sclerosis through mri scan, now i'm taking medication name clobazam and this medicine didn't able to control my problem and later I started take divalproex but same didn't able to control my problem, and then started taking lacosamide but this also not able to control my problem, I feels suddenly discomfort at head and too much difficulty all over the body too much discomfort till 20 second to last 50 second and after then I feels normal. During that time I always in normal condition everything, I can sense normally my surround environment and can talk with anyone normally and do everything, I never haven't unconscious till now, only too much difficulty and discomfort which is out of tolerate and I feels relief after 20 to 50 second later and becomes normal, I feels such types of difficulty daily 1/2 times or more repeat and some time 2/3 days gap and again same 1/2 attack. Some time this attack repeat so much more than 50 per day, really bothering eeg test only can detect during that attack of 20 to 50 second other time not able to detect and always show normal eeg in other normal condition, really don't know which medicine can control this types seizure.

Hello, I am not very much convinced that you have complex partial seizures, the granuloma though in temporal region can induce seizures but the sequence is not suggestive at all according to the information you have posted. You can try a video eeg to further investigate the cause for same.

Hello,
each medicine though has a dose and is to be used accordingly, its not fair neither correct to discuss the use of medicines without knowing the disease and the aim of prescribing medicines it will be best for you if you consult the doctor who has prescribed the medication. Else the second best option will be to reconsult a doctor with complete details. Thats the best option for you.

Yes its safe for all. Rather risk getting severe Covid-19 infection is much more than the risk of side effects. Do not stop or hold any medicine for vaccination.

Yes you may take the vaccine. There is currently no relation between seizures and covid vaccine reactions. Just inform your provider about the allergies or other health problems you have (if any). You may get some fever and bodyaches after the shot which is normal. Take tab dolo for min 2 days even if you don't have fever to be on safe side on the seizure aspect. If you have any other doubt, you may consult me by text/call.
