Depends on what your diagnosis is. It's quite unusual to start thyroxine for a borderline tsh unless you have marked weakness and other symptoms consistent with hypothyroidism. A few more tests need to be done and a careful history has to be taken.

Seborrheic dermatitis may be causing this problem. Medicine available for good control. Treatment depends on the severity. Recurrence does occur if precaution not taken ,like- good skin care and hair care is required -keep affected area clean ,non greasy. -avoid coconut oil ,only condition hair prior shampoo. -mustard oil, lemon, olive oil, tea tree oil and aloe vera may be used if secure on scalp.-it may appear again with change of weather, stress, products used, pregnancy, age, systemic conditions, drugs etc -necessary to control risk factors. My nephew who is 7 years old tested positive in sugar test. His sugar levels were 500+ at the time of joining in hospital (5 days back), now his sugar levels are fluctuating in range of 60 to 250 so far (we use to test 3 times a day), based on the value we're giving apidra and lantus insulins (doctor suggests the units based on values). In a day, we use to give him 5 insulins, and kid is not okay with those injections. Now I would like to know is there any way to give single insulin a day or no insulin with a perfect diet? Please let me know. Doctor said, his pancreas got infected and stopped producing insulin. Is it life long? Or kid may get recovered as he ageing.

Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. I am sorry to know the kid has developed t1 m. This is a condition where patient's beta cells (cells producing insulin in pancreas) are totally non functional. In such a situation only option is giving insulin and that too multiple doses as there absolutely no insulin being produced. So with every food intake there is a need for insulin. In children usually rapid acting insulins are used. However, a long acting insulin glargine (basalog) 100 units/ ml pen can be used once a day in addition 2 or 3 doses of lispro the rapid acting insulin. It is very tough for a child to take injections every day and for lifetime. But unfortunately there is no option at all. Other option is there are insulin pumps, which deliver insulin on a continuous basis. There is an instrument fixed on the abdomen which continuously releases insulin as required. You may enquire with some leading diabetologists in bangalore. It is an expensive treatment. But worth looking at. Thanks.

Do you have dandruff problem also. Regularly wash your hair with mild shampoo. 1. Vitamin for hair loss.(a, b and c) 2. Enrich diet with protein. 3. Do warm coconut oil massage. Take coconut oil and heat it up so that it is warm, but not too hot. Massage your scalp with this hot oil for a few minutes. 4. Avoid brushing wet hair. 5. Keep yourself hydrated. 6. Put on a shower cap for an hour then shampoo your hair. It helps to stop hair loss and promote hair growth. 7. Avoid hairstyles that pull on the hairline. 8. Ditch hair tools that use high heat. 9. Hi! hair loss can be due to various reasons, genetic, hormonal, nutritional, dandruff, stress ,pollution etc. We have to examine the scalp to know the reason for hair loss. If dandruff is present, it should be checked and be controlled in this age group. Blood tests like cbpesr ,tsh, lft, rbs, s.ferritin levels, s.b12 levels, s.vitamin d levels, s.testosterone levels need to be checked to know the reason and to focus on the internal factors. Mean while ,take balanced diet with proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, plenty of fluids for hydration, omega 3 rich foods like walnuts, flax seeds etc, iron rich foods like green leafy vegetables, liver, jaggery. Use a ph balanced shampoo .you can do an online video consultation for more queries.
