Hello
dear Lybrate user,
sorry to know about ill health.
Its a dermatological condition. Practise hygiene, scabies can be treated by killing the mites and their eggs with medication that's applied from the neck down and left on for eight hours. The mites can also be killed using oral medication.
One option is apply a mite-killer like permethrin (elimite). These creams are applied from the neck down, left on overnight, then washed off. Do not self medicate

Hi lybrate-user
you can try applying permethrin 5percent cream all over the body from neck to toe (not face) before sleeping and take a bath next morning. Repeat this if required after 7 days. You also need to clean all your clothes and your bed sheet, blankets thoroughly as if you do not do this, it will keep recurring.

Hi,
scabies is caused by sarcoptes scabei. Those mites will penetrate your skin and create burrows, live and lay eggs there as well. Its hard to kill them unless you maintain the contact time with the lotion for the prescribed time so that the lotion can percolate into the burrows. You need a repeat application as well. Scabies is caused by mite sarcoptis scabies. For exterminating it completely out of your house it is imperative for all family members to take treatment together. Also, all the sofa covers, bedsheets, etc need to be washed and ironed properly. All the mattresses to be exposed in sunlight. If you consulted a qualified dermatologist and are sure that it is scabies, there is no harm in repeating treatment. It will definitely help.
