Ayurvedic Remedies To Treat Anxiety Disorder!

The concept of alternative medicine is no more a novel proposition. It is a tried and tested way of dealing with physical as well as psychological problems. The aim of “Ayurveda” is to strike a corrective balance amongst three essential kinds of energies present in the human body. Ayurveda classifies these energies as 'Vata', 'Pitta', 'Kapha”. While “Vata” deals with bodily functions related to circulation of blood or breathing, “Pitta” primarily deals with metabolism. On the other hand, Kapha is concerned with regulation of growth in the varied organs and cells of your body. Anxiety disorder is a crushing problem if left unattended; Ayurvedic care and certain significant changes in your way of life can treat the condition.

Ayurveda asks you to adhere to the following guidelines to control anxiety disorder:

  1. Nasyam and vasti karma‚Äč: Nasya is a part of panchkarma therapy and can help in controlling anxiety disorders. Vasti is an important treatment in Ayurveda and can treat anxiety.
  2. Add these substances to your bath water: Bathing leads to relaxation and plays a key role in controlling your anxiety. You could be anxious due to familial issues or work related matters; a bath at the end of the day soothes your mind helping you to think clearly. Using ginger and baking soda in your bath water can further relieve you from being unnecessarily anxious.
  3. Drink your orange juice with a difference now: Orange juice, when taken in combination with honey, acts on an increased heart rate. It lowers down a person’s heart rate and also treats anxiety disorder. Oranges, as you know, are rich in vitamin C and can tackle stress by decreasing the effects of cortisol. Cortisol is better known as the stress hormone. So avoid sugar and try honey instead with your daily share of orange juice.
  4. Add almonds and saffron to your glass of milkThe one glass of milk that you drink regularly for nutrition and calcium can be made way more nourishing by adding saffron, almonds, nutmeg powder and ginger to it. This concoction helps in curing a frazzled nervous system thus, ridding you of anxiety disorder. Milk with almonds and saffron should be spiced to maintain the myelin sheath on each nerve of your body. This fatty layer does have a very calming influence on you.
  5. Detox therapy and medication - These can help in treating anxiety successfully according to ayurveda.

Ayurveda's Common Sense Ways to Keep Your Heart Healthy!

The modern age is full of tensions and stress, expecting peaceful mind and healthy lifestyle is just impossible. To prevent common diseases and living a healthy life requires keen knowledge of the main organ of the body, that is the Heart. The heart is a muscular organ which works like an engine and provides fuel to run human body by pumping blood. Our heart has two chambers which separates the oxygen rich blood from oxygen poor blood and each time you breathe the valves of heart opens and closes. There are many cardiovascular diseases that are caused due to the blood vessel and heart issues like lack of flexibility, blockage, fatty plaques of the arteries or lack of strength of the parties.

The modern medical systems suggest surgical treatment for the cure of the heart problems but on another hand, Ayurveda targets the deep root cause of the disease. The best cure for heart diseases is to adopt a holistic approach named Ayurveda the part of the great Indian heritage. This is not only based upon the ancient principle but many researchers worked and proofed that heart issues are reversible with the help of Ayurvedic treatment.

As Ayurveda believes in the natural ingredients for treatment, many remedies are available in our surrounding. Here are some commonly recommended remedies to prevent and cure heart diseases by Ayurveda.

  1. Triphala: To reduce the blood fat level and high cholesterol Triphala- the mixture of three herbs named Amalaki, Bibhitaki, and Haritaki. This handles the causative issues of blood fat and cholesterol and keeps the heart healthy.
  2. Ashwagandha: This is a wonder herb to reduce tension from mind and body and provide strength to the heart muscles.
  3. Chaywanprash: this is the mixture of various herbs like sugar, honey, ghee, Indian Gooseberry (amla), jam, sesame oil, berries, herbs and various spices. Chaywanprash is an herbal jam which strengthens the heart muscles and boosts up the immune system as well.

These three are the most common and easily available remedies for heart problems. Other than these three garlic, ginger, turmeric, saffron, arjuna, guggul, etc. herbs which are good for heart diseases and provides a complete cure. I would suggest consulting an expert Ayurvedic physician for the better results and proper guidance instant of trying self treatment.

Endometriosis - A Possible Therapy In Ayruveda!

Endometriosis is a painful disorder wherein, a tissue that normally belongs to the inside of a woman’s uterus, starts to grow out of the uterus. It common involves a woman’s ovaries, fallopian tubes and the tissue, which lines the pelvis. In case of endometriosis, the displaced endometrial tissue continues to act like normal, becomes thick, breaks down and leads to bleeding with each menstrual cycle. Endometriosis can lead to pain, which might be severe especially during a woman’s period.

Causes of Endometriosis:

  1. Embryonic Cells Getting Transformed: Hormones like estrogen might transform the cells, which are in the early stage of development, into implantation of endometrial cells at the time of puberty.
  2. Surgical Scar Implantation: After undergoing a surgery like a hysterectomy or C-section, the endometrial cells might get attached to the incisions done for conducting the surgery.
  3. Transport of Endometrial Cells: The tissue fluid system or the blood vessels might transport the endometrial cells to different parts of the body.

Let us take a look at some of the symptoms of endometriosis:

  1. Periods which become painful
  2. Pain suffered during or after the intercourse.
  3. Feeling of pain during bowel movements
  4. Excess bleeding
  5. Infertility

Possible location of endometriosis:

  1. Ovaries(the most common site)
  2. Fallopian tubes
  3. Back of the uterus
  4. Front of the uterus
  5. Uterine ligaments such as the broad or round ligament of the uterus
  6. Pelvic walls
  7. Intestines
  8. Urinary bladder and ureters

Investigations Required in Endometriosis
The investigations required in endometriosis are as follows:

  1. Pelvic Exam – In this exam, a doctor manually tends to feel certain areas in pelvis for any kind of abnormality like cysts or the reproductive organs or scars behind the uterus.
  2. Ultrasound High-frequency sound waves are used to create certain images inside the body, through capturing them via a device known as transducer and getting it pressed against a woman’s abdomen.
  3. MRI MRI by way of magnetic field and radio waves help to get detailed images of the tissues and organs in the body.
  4. Laparoscopy Endometriosis through the eyes of ayurveda: The signs and symptoms mentioned in endometriosis are described in ayurveda under the heading of vataja yonivyapadh and udavartha.
    • Apana Vata is considered as the main functioning agent to maintain normal menstruation.
    • This is vitiated due to sedentary life style, lack of exercise, sleep, irregular sleep, stressful professional atmosphere, mental tensions and unhealthy food habits.
    • The deranged apana vata causes retrograde menstruation leading to endometriosis. Along with this, the other two doshas-pitta and kapha are vitiated leading to hormonal imbalance and abnormal growth of endometrium respectively. Hence, the first and foremost step is to restore the physiology of these doshas.

What are shodhanas?
Shodhanas are detoxifying procedures like snehana, svedana, vamana, virechana and basti. Benefits of shodhana in female reproductive system:

  • Biological systems return to normalcy.
  • Revitalizes body tissues
  • Potentiates pharmacological actions of internal medicines
  • Removes toxins
  • Improves physiological functions and gut absorption.

Also, improper metabolism is corrected

  • Mental faculties, strength and vitality are enhanced
  • Fine tunes the endocrine system (hormonal balance correcting hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis).
  • Promotive-promotes fertility, preventive-prevents recurrence and curative- cures from the root and rehabilitative too.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Endometriosis
Endometriosis’s treatment in Ayurveda requires an anti-Pitta diet and regimen, where there would be complete avoidance of all spices, except coriander, turmeric and saffron. One must also refrain from having

  1. Salt
  2. Alcohol
  3. Refined sugar

Good herbs might get included in the form of:

  1. Shatavari
  2. Kumari Saar
  3. Kanchanar
  4. Ashoka
  5. Lodhra
  6. Pradranta Churna

As per Ayurveda, Endometriosis happens as a result of more Kapha due to increased growth of the uterine membrane. Anti-kapha, anti-tumor and general detoxification can be helpful along with some typical herbs like Guggul, Myrrh, Turmeric and Dandelion

How can Diet and Yoga help to improve Endometriosis?
Modifications in diet by switching to the intake of healthy foods and Yoga can help to a great extent in improving Endometeriosis. Some of the diet tips include:

How To Increase Sex Drive In Men Naturally?

Your sex drive is tied to physical, psychological, and emotional factors. If you’re looking to boost your sex drive, there are natural ways to influence all of these factors. A healthy diet can be easily supplemented with some natural aphrodisiacs, like figs and dark chocolate, as well as a variety of herbal supplements. Staying active and managing stress will help control the psychological factors that can lead to a loss of sex drive. Finally, if you’re in a relationship, communicating openly with your partner can also reduce the problem.

Start taking yohimbe to improve sexual performance. This herb (also marketed as yohimbine) is an FDA-approved supplement that has been called the "herbal Viagra." It can increase sexual performance and drive by stimulating blood flow to improve erectile function, and by boosting your stamina. Look for yohimbe at a health store.

  • Follow the dosing instructions included with the supplement. Studies have shown benefits from taking a 20 mg dose when needed, but different brands may suggest alternative dose amounts.
  • While taking yohimbe, avoid cheese, red wine, and liver. These foods are high in a substance called tyramine which can cause high blood pressure when combined with yohimbe.
  • If you are taking antidepressant medications, talk to a doctor before taking yohimbe.

Take Safed musli for a testosterone-like effect. Safed musli is an herb traditionally used to treat sexual problems. Studies have shown that it has a tesosterone-like effect in rats, increasing their sexual performance and activity rate. You should be able to find safe musli supplements online or at many health stores.

  • Studies of the effects of safed musli on rats used dosages of about 200mg per kg (2.2 lbs) of body weight. Check your supplement's instructions for exact human dosing recommendations.
  • Keep in mind that safed musli's effects in humans haven't been fully researched. The supplement may or may not be as effective for humans. safed musli may interact with other medications you are taking, or impact other medical conditions, so it is important to talk to your doctor before taking it.

Use ginseng to improve blood flow. Ginseng is another herb that has traditionally been used to treat sexual problems. Studies of its effects in animals suggest that there may be some truth to these traditional recommendations. Ginseng contains antioxidants and can improve cardiovascular (heart) function. This effect can increase blood flow and erectile function, stimulating your sex drive overall.

  • Ginseng is a very common supplement. You should be able to find it wherever dietary supplements are found.
  • Make sure to follow the daily dosing instructions provided with your supplement. Doses will vary based on the type of ginseng, but you may need to take it several times a day.
  • Ginseng impacts blood flow and heart function. This means it's important to talk to your doctor before using the supplement if you have any heart issues or take heart/blood medications.

Take a saffron supplement to potentially improve erectile function. Saffron has long been used as a natural way to treat erectile dysfunction and other sexual problems. Studies show that saffron may be effective in rats, but it is not clear that it has these effects in humans. Look for saffron wherever herbal supplements are sold. Try the daily dose (generally 30mg, divided in two) recommended by the supplement's instructions, and see if it helps improve your sexual performance or drive.

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, avoiding using saffron, since consuming amounts more than what is normally used in food (5g) can cause contractions. Other side effects of saffron are unknown.
