A PCR test (viral load test) are neither approved or recommended for routine who just want to test more quickly than the four weeks recommended with an antigen/antibody test. They are less accurate (actual infections can easily be missed), more expensive and require more complicated.

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you.
The median window period is 31 days (interquartile range 26 to 37 days). This indicates that half of all infections would be detected between 26 and 37 days after exposure. 99% of hiv-infected individuals would be detectable within 57 days of exposure.

If the partner is known to you, hiv test is not needed at all. Only if you have a high risk behavior like multiple partners, then the test may be taken. Its perfectly fine to get a single negative test.

Hello and welcome to Lybrate. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. If your hiv rna pcr test at 40th day is conclusive and non-reactive, there is no need to worry for the time being.
I suggest telephonic counseling and online psychotherapy for you.
You can contact me for further advice and treatment options. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care.

I am sorry to hear about your concern but will be happy to assist you.
Post-exposure prophylaxis (pep) can affect pcr test results. Though the chances of hiv tests coming positive later is almost nill with given risk exposure and test results, it is better to go for an hiv antibodies test after three months of exposure to relieve anxiety

Hi, Hopefully if all your previous tests has turned out to be negative then, no need to worry. Your pcr report will also be negative and you will not fall into a hiv positive patient.
