When the situation occurs of pain in tooth it only means there is inflammation of the pulp. And more specifically amalgum filling or any other restoration may not help.
Pl get an xray done and if the dentist has suggested you an rct it is suggested you go through it.
Pain may subside on taking other remedy but it is obvious that infection inside will definitely increase.
So why wait.

Dear Lybrate user,
take cap after completion of the RCT. Cap provides a long life to your RCT. Without cap RCT treated tooth may be easily fractured.

Please go back your dentist and get the X-ray, he would find out the reason of pain and then treat it accordingly. Don’t avoid brushing as it would spoil your other teeth as well.

In your area Gwalior there are many quakes who can't perform specific dental treatments such as RCT. So be careful. Now, considering your dentist is reputed one, let him perform whatever is needed in your case because he can visualize and know the problem better. If required, a re -RCT can be done. Why I am saying this because RCT itself can cure tooth related problem, now what operation is required to take out germs, God knows. Just be careful.

Hello
Root canal treatment relieves the tooth pain by removing the pulp which contains nerves & blood vessels. This tooth is more prone to fracture & is highly brittle
crown or cap is absolutely mandatory so that the tooth can withstand sufficient pressure.
