As a general rule, retinal detachment occurs in both eyes in about one in ten patients with an initial retinal detachment in one eye. The second detachment in the fellow eye may occur even years later. You may get a right and detailed consultation post discussing his complete medical history over a call or a video conferencing.

I am a 23 year old female. I have been diagnosed with pvd and lattice generation. I have visited multiple retina specialists and none of them advised for a treatment, they had asked me to watch out for symptoms related to a tear or detachment. What should I do, I am scared.

Lattice degeneration is a disease of the human eye wherein the peripheral retina becomes atrophic in a lattice pattern and may develop tears, breaks, or holes, which may further progress to retinal detachment. It is an important cause of retinal detachment in young myopic individuals. Treatment of lattice is typically prophylactic. In rare cases, the doctor performs a “barrier” laser to “tack down” the retina surrounding these lesions to avoid the possibility of retinal detachment. If the doctor finds a retinal tear near the lesion, a preventative laser procedure can help avoid retinal detachment complications.

When a vein in the retina becomes blocked, it's called retinal vein occlusion. This can give you a blurry vision or even sudden permanent blindness in that eye. It's similar to retinal artery occlusion, which is sometimes called an eye stroke. in the retina, arteries and veins cross over each other. Treatment for the complications of retinal vein occlusion may include focal laser treatment if macular oedema is present. Injections of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (anti-vegf) drugs into the eye. These drugs may block the growth of new blood vessels that can cause glaucoma.

Can not see from my right eye, I am suffering from an eye disease called leukocoria in my right eye.
Leukocoria (also white pupillary reflex) is an abnormal white reflection from the retina of the eye. Leukocoria resembles eyeshine, but leukocoria can occur in humans and other animals that lack eyeshine because their retina lacks a tapetum lucidum. Large reviews have shown that leukocoria is the most common presenting sign (> 50% of cases). As the disease can progress rapidly, retinoblastoma is considered an ocular emergency. Fortunately, with early diagnosis and treatment, more than 98% of children with retinoblastoma can be cured,

Sir what is the treatment is possible for central retina artery occlusion within 13 days?
Central retinal artery occlusion needs prompt medical attention. Treatment choices include fluid release, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and clot-busting medicines. None of these treatments are proven to be helpful for all patients.

What is a cornea vascular beads and what you suggest for a person suffering from it?
Corneal neovascularization (new blood vessels growing onto the cornea) is most commonly caused by contact lenses. Other common causes include an inflammation of the eyelids, called blepharitis, or a localized skin condition, called rosacea. Treatment of corneal neovascularization depends on the severity of the condition and the cause. Corticosteroids may be prescribed to reduce vascularization. Surgical options include laser photocoagulation. Reduction or temporary cessation of contact lens wear time may be necessary to allow the tissues to heal.

Eat a balanced diet rich in green leafy vegetables, fruits, and cold water fish such as tuna, salmon, mackerel, and sardines. Take a daily multivitamin with 2 mg lutein. Take 6-10 mg lutein if you have macular degeneration or are at risk. Take 200-500 mg of dha for vision support as well.

ERM/ macular pucker can be removed only by surgery. Surgical plan depends upon the status of the retina and macula. Hence, can be decided only after seeing the patient.

What is meant by retinal pigment epithelium degeneration.
What is meant by retinal pigment changes?
There is no specific treatment for retinitis pigmentosa as this is a genetically linked disease and can have expression at various levels. The patient may benefit by some dietary adjustments (by taking a copper free diet) and by taking oral Vit A 15,000 i.u. daily of 50,000 i.u. twice a week on a regular basis. The reason one eye sees better than the other is based on the retinal status, the extent and progression of the disease and whether the central retina and optic nerve are involved in the disease process or not. Unfortunately, surgery on the retina is not possible. Field expanders (a form of low vision devise) may help her to see a little better.
