Azithromycin should be taken for only 5 days according to guidelines for pneumonia however in certain other respiratory conditions the dose can be extended 500 mg once daily is a sufficient dose.

Restricted fluid intake to 1.5 litre/day and chest physiotherapy - breathing exercises, every 4 hours, limb exercises, graded increase in their levels, vaccination against pneumocpccal and influenza can be done. Not forgetting round the clock inhalers with spacer technique, additionally when required and oral bronchodilators. Steroids intake can be delayed by using above options.
