Hello. It is good to know that your sister has recovered well from covid. Steroids are not to be stopped abruptly, it always has to be tapered by decreasing the doses first before stopping it completely. It is unlikely that just with 10 days of low dose steroid she will develop mucormycosis. But an ophthalmologist definitely needs to take a look at the eye first before saying that for sure. A good quality picture will be helpful in ruling out the same.

An injury to the eye, such as a scratched cornea, can cause the eye to swell and itch. It may feel as if there is something in the eye. If the injury becomes infected, there may be thick discharge. A blocked tear duct: this can cause sticky, thick eye mucus, and may be painful.

Hello. Before prescribing any treatment for your daughter, it is of utmost importance that infection is ruled out first. Basically redness and irritation can be infective or inflammatory (allergic, dryness etc). With the limited information you have provided over here, it is difficult for an eye doctor to put up a probable diagnosis. A good quality picture of both eyes will be helpful in guiding treatment plan for her. You can reach me out anytime for consultation to discuss your case in a more ...more

Hello.
Commenting upon what problem your eyes are having without looking at them will be vague at this point. The red streak you are having are dilated blood vessels of conjunctiva (white appearing part of the eye). The diagnosis will depend on its location, size and their pattern. Since it is occurring on and off, it can be due to excess eye strain, inadequate sleep, dry eyes or allergy and can be easily managed with proper eye drops and lifestyle modification.
