While you may not consume 10 large radishes in a single sitting, a 100-gram portion serves a good nutritional value. Radish is an excellent source of vitamin C - 25% of the daily recommended value and helps in rebuilding of tissues, blood vessels and will keep your teeth and bones very strong. Vitamin C fights disease, increasing the immunity of your body, and helping to fight against all types of diseases, including stroke, heart disease, and cancer.

Radish is also known as 'Raphanus raphanistrum', can be eaten raw (in salads) or can be used in the preparation of different cuisines. While many people trash away radish greens, they are actually one of the best parts of this root vegetable. Although they are not among those classic leafy green vegetables, Radish greens are packed with some lesser known but important nutrients that can fill out a healthy diet.

वैज्ञानिक नाम रफानस सैटाईवस वाली मुली, स्वाद में तीखी या मीठी और कई रसों से युक्त होती है. इसे कच्चा या पकाकर खाया जा सकता है. कच्चा खाने के लिए इसे सलाद के रूप में इस्तेमाल करते हैं. वहीँ पका कर खाने के लिए इसका सब्जी या पराठा बना लेते हैं. मुली को अचार के रूप में भी खाते हैं. मुली विभिन्न आकार और रंग (सफ़ेद, लाल, बैंगनी या काला) की होती है. मुली में पत्तियां, फुल और बीज होते हैं. तो आइए नजर डालते हैं मुली के पत्तों के फायदों पर.

1. ह्रदय रोगों में
इसमें मौजूद एन्थेसाइनिन नामक तत्व दिल के मरीजों के लिए भी फायदेमंद होता है. ऐसा कई शोधों के परिणामों में देखा गया है कि एन्थेसाइनिन नामक तत्व ह्रदय संबंधी तमाम विकारों में सकारात्मक भूमिका निभाता है. आपको बता दें कि एन्थेसाइनिन में कैंसर रोधी गुण भी देखा गया है. हलांकि अभी इस दिशा में काफी शोध किए जाने बाकी हैं. ये जरुर है कि एन्थेसाइनिन ने तमाम शोधकर्ताओं को अपनी तरफ आकर्षित किया है.

  • Green leafy vegetable like spinach, fenugreek, pak choy, radish leaves, lettuce, etc. Are healthy and are known to reduce the risk of heart diseases and cancer as well. That's because they are extremely low in fat, calories and high in dietary fibre. They also contain folic acid, magnesium, calcium, potassium, etc. These minerals are beneficial for the optimum functioning of the heart. Studies have shown that one daily serving of green leafy vegetables can lower the risk of heart diseases by 11 per cent.
  • Oats are one the most healthiest options available for breakfast. Not only do they make you feel full and energetic, they are great for your heart too. Oats contain beta glucan, which is a soluble fibre that helps bring down cholesterol levels especially ldl (bad cholesterol) in the body. Have oatmeal for breakfast or have oatmeal bread or cookies to absorb their benefits.
  • Whole grains whether its wheat, barley, millet, pulses and even beans for that matter are good for the heart because they provide natural fibre and vitamins. They contains vitamin e, iron, magnesium and a host of anti-oxidants. Regular consumption of of whole grains reduces blood pressure too.
