Asked for male, 69 years old from Hyderabad

I am a prostate cancer patient I have taken lupride 11.25 inj 3 once in 3 months. Now psa is now 1.08, previously it is 60. Now Dr. Has prescribed zometa 4 mg 6 injs once in a month. I came to know that this inj has lot of side affects. Is it ok to take. Pl advise me.

Mr. lybrate-user, inj zometa can be safely given if calcium and creatinine is normal. Even if some side effects are there they can be taken care of by doctors all medicines for that matter can have side effects.

Health Query

My father is prostrate patient, we have used abiraterone, bicalutamide and radiation and in chemo we have used docetaxel, cabazitaxel and mitacantrone as well as second time docetaxel. The doctor is saying no more drugs are available. Is it true? Can you suggest other medicine or treatment that can reduce cancer cell our monthly spend on treatment can't go beyond 70000.

Abirateron is a good medicine but if its not responding then there are hormonal injections which are very effective. Degarelix is one option

My grandfather has recently get some test and it detected prostate cancer. In further reports the gleason score is 8 with serum psa 13.4 ng/ml. Can this be diagnosed?

Cancers with gleason scores of 8 to 10 may be called poorly differentiated or high-grade. These cancers are likely to grow and spread more quickly, although a cancer with a gleason score of 9-10 is twice as likely to grow and spread quickly as a cancer with a gleason score of 8.

Hello. He can stop calutide as per latest guidelines. It is advisable to have latest serum psa report checked. Regarding the catheter, he may undergo channel turp for him to void without catheter.

Suffering from prostrate cancer, diagnosed in last stage. Was under control till yesterday when we did bone scan result came that most of the bones are affected. Did radiotherapies and oral therapies (tabi) by which psa level came down to 0 from 150 but now psa has increased back to 38. Moreover l1, l2 and l5 bones have been dissolved because of tumour. What should be done further.

What happens if when I go to the restroom a bit of blood comes out do I have prostate cancer or is it just inflammation and if I should get it checked I’m 18.

Cancer prostate is extremely rare at age of 18. However you need to get it checked as it be due to other reasons like infection, stone, etc. L, which are more common than cancer prostate at your age. Do let me know if you need any further advice.

These tests are still not carried out in India. Hormonal therapy is standard practice for metastatic prostate cancer.

Sir/madamMy father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in sep 2017 showing score 3 3 that time. He has just done his robotic surgery to remove this prostate gland. The score in report shows 3 4 and pT2NxMx. His current PSA is 22.5.Perineural invasion is present. Doctor has advised to inject Pamorelin La 22.5 in gap of 6 months for 2 years. I will be very thankful if you could tell me the real picture of the disease and survival rate of such patience if taking such injections.

Yes because of perineural invasion you can go for these injections. He will do good after robotic surgery.

My psa at initial level was 10.92.MRI reading before 3 years was 3/5 and biopsy negative. Thereafter on continuation of medicine for last three years was reduced to 3.04 in July 2018. Urologist then prescribed Urimax .4 instead of contiflo D.However on recent Psa test it has been elevated to 6.59.Doctor has now again changed the medicine to contiflo D again and advised to report after three month with Psa report. Is there any alarming sign so far as the present Psa report is concerned.

If your psa is again on the rise then better to repeat it after taking antibiotics for 3 weeks. If it still continues to rise then get multiparametric MRI from a good radiologist. If there is any suspicious lesion seen then better to do targeted biopsy of the lesion with MRI trus fusion method.

No it's not possible for that much variation.
It's definitely due to local/regional recurrence or due to distant metastasis. You should consult your Oncologist.
