RP is an inherited disorder that results from harmful changes in any one of more than 50 genes. These genes carry the instructions for making proteins that are needed in cells within the retina, called photoreceptors. Some of the changes, or mutations, within genes are so severe that the gene cannot make the required protein, limiting the cellís function. Vitamin B12 if taken through natural diet will be proved to be beneficial.
Supplements usually do not give proper supply of this particular vitamin.

pain could be due to soar throat, pharyngitis etc.
if you feel its thyroid enlargement you can do ultrasonography of neck to rule out thyroid swelling. small thyroid nodules are difficult to palpate with fingers and for that USG is best option.
