Dear Lybrate user. Polycystic kidney disease has an association with aneurysm or abnormal swelling of blood vessels in the brain which might lead to bleeding and a stroke. I suppose that has been evaluated. Otherwise for treatment of polycystic kidney disease aggressive control of BP is required. Nothing serious, this are just water bubble (i presume there is no septation or calcification in cyst ie, it is a simple cyst) .this will not get resolved, and needs no active urological intervention.

Simple renal cysts are usualy normal findings on usg. Nothing to do much. Check KFT, Report to nephrologist in case of pain abdomen, blood in urine or UTI.

If its a simple cyst, then you need not worry. However, you may have to repeat an ultrasound once in a year to keep a track of the size of the cyst.

Polycystic kidney doesn't require treatment per se. Most important is to keep monitoring kidney function because Polycystic kidney can lead to kidney failure. For a cyst of 3.5 cm again usually no treatment is required unless it is causing pain/infection /bleeding or there is some abnormality detected on ct scan.

As of now take symptomatic treatment and whenever any complications arise be ready for dialysis and listen instructions from your Nephrologist and Few tips on Diet for kidney disease - have a low protein diet (decrease in milk and its products and also decrease in the intake of pulses and nuts etc)- can use corn oil, sunflower oil, olive oil for cooking -decrease the intake of butter, ghee, cream,coconut etc - avoid farsan food items - whole grain cereals are best for carbohydrate intake - get y...more
