Best treatment for pilonidal sinus is flap advancement surgery.
In my experience of more than 100 surgeries there has been no recurrence. And there is no open wound so no dressings.

As you have mentioned that you got surgery for pilonidal sinus this shows that you have more hair then normal. I simply suggest you to keep cleanliness of area by washing with soap and water and apply some moisturiser or home remedies coconut oil. Another suggestion is to keep your stool soft by taking three full meals which has lot of veg. Fruits and plenty of water and if needed add stool softener to it. i hope you will improve.

Surgery is not a right choice for pilonidal sinus for the reason of recurrence of problem after surgery (in about 20-25% cases pilonidal sinus recurs after surgery). However pilonidal sinus can be completely treated by graded ksharsutra treatment. No hospitalization or bed rest is required. You can continue your normal routine activities as usual during treatment.

The key is local hygine. Cleaning with any normal soap will do especially after gyming.
No hair should be left. Use trimmers or any hair removal cream for the same.
