first of all Pilonidal sinus is not cure by taking only medicine, There will be a big wound in modern surgery and also Surgical stains will be there for lifetime. Kshara Sutra Therapy is a unique ancient technique, which is proved to be an effective treatment for Pilonidal Sinus. According to World Health Organisation(WHO) , Kshar Sutra Therapy is better than any Modern Surgery for Pilonidal Sinus. Its a Painless non surgical procedure.

Hi lybrate-user.
If it is a pilonidal sinus as mentioned by you. the newly available radial laser technology is best.
But for this surgery the surgeon should have all the accessories to perform the surgery as it has to be performed at many sites over the sinus. So the knowledge of the surgeon is also considered.
Again the cost of laser is high.
If it is associated with abscess as mentioned by you. Laser surgery is not indicated as there is no tract available for ablation.

You can try to remove impacted hairs from that sinus. Acourse of antibiotic and hot sitz bath is helpful. Try to keep the area over your spinal cord hairfree.

I understand the word laser and laparoscopy denote precise, painless or minimal invasive surgery. If the diagnosis of pilonidal sinus is confirmed then simple lay opening the tract and removal of the hair tufts resting at the depth of the sinus is the most accurate treatment. Surgery is not a right choice for pilonidal sinus (open surgery/ laser surgery/ z-plasty etc.) for the reason of recurrence of pilonidal sinus after surgery. However pilonidal sinus can be conveniently treated by graded ksharsutra treatment. No hospitalization or bed rest is required in this treatment. You can continue your normal routine activities as usual during this treatment. For further support you may call reception at sushruta ano rectal institute.

For pilonidal sinus, the only treatment is surgical removal but do remember that pilonidal sinus has a fairly high incidence of recurrence even in the best of hands.
