Hello Dr. I have ice pick scars and boxcar scars on my face like nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead and my skin is very sensitive, I am afraid of using creams and laser treatments. So instead of taking laser, fractional/fraxel laser, fractional co2, TCA chemical peeling, IPL treatment can I go for microneedling/dermapen or can I use dermaroller for ice pick scars and boxcar scars? Will needling and dermaroller helps in preventing scars? Will scars do completely disappear and do they produce new collagen and improve skin texture? And if I go with needling/derma roller what kind of cream do I need to apply after I use roller or needling? Will they have any side effects? If you advice me to go with needling/derma roller, suggest me best dermaroller? And please help me and suggest the best treatment process. Thank you.

Hello, There are various treatments for acne scars which include creams, chemical peels, microdermaabrasion, microneedling, radiofrequency, surgery, fat fill, laser etc. TCA peels do help with ice pick scars, CO2 laser though is a good option it cannot be used in all skin type due to risk of hyperpigmentation. You should never pull the skin, You should always let it peel out on its own and keep applying moisturiser. The situation you refer to should heal on its own within few weeks as the peels are mostly very superficial. Consult the dermatologist who did your peel for further management.

There are different kinds of peel. Some have invisible peeling . Some peels are deep peels and the peeling of skin starts 2 days after the application of peel. So it depends on which peel is applied to your skin. If superficial peel is used you will be able to go without any concern.
