The keratin formed on the top of our tongues is knocked off and swallowed when we eat our meals. Normally the amount of keratin produced is equal to the amount knocked off, and our tongues appear normal. Sometimes this balance is upset, however, and the condition called “coated tongue” results. U can have warm water with a pinch of salt in it. Start doing gargle 5-6 times a day. That wud soothen the pricking a bit. N you need to visit an ent specialist. For total cure.

Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Itz better if you can share your pic. But I think you should consult your oral medicine dentist who is specialist in this type of pathological problem. There are many etiology behind it eg bacterial viral poor oral hygiene vitamin deficiency.
