Can happen if it is hemorrhagic cyst or torsion of cyst occurs. It is common for cysts more than 4 cm size. If it was endometriotic cyst, then you have option of going for other medical treatments for same.

Hello lybrate-user. For endometriosis surgery is usually followed by medication to suppress reformation of endometriosis. Periods will resume once you stop medication. You should try to conceive early. Discuss with your doctor. If you are married take help from doctor for conceive good early as there are always chances reformation of endometrioma and cyst.

There is condition called "remnant ovarian syndrome" if the new growth is producing symptoms ,and the size is increasing, it is better to remove it surgically. Always check ca125 also to exclude the possibility of malignancy.

Pl get AMH and other hormone profile done as a cystectomy will impreve the the outcome peovided there is adequate ovarian tissue moreover it being unilateral there may be other issues preventing conception pl see a gyn before a panic with the procedure.
