I am suffering from ocd. I am taking medicine of daxid 100 mg. From last four days, how many days take to go ocd.

Hello, it depends on patient to patient. But on an average medication start showing their results within a month and within 2-3 months 80 percent of the symptoms are controlled. Total duration for which medication is taken is 6 months after the symptoms are gone.

Hello doctors I have been taking serta 100 and risdone plus tablet from 3 years for depression, ocd and anxiety. I feel a lot nauseas now a days. Earlier I do not used to feel. I tried homeopathy, allopathy, ayurvedic for nausea but still there is no relief. When ever I start taking medicines I feel good for 2 3 days and then again nausea feeling starts. What it could be? It's been almost 4 months I am feeling nauseas. What it could be?

Dear Sumedh,
All medicines are chemicals. So, most of them cause nausea. Some people are more sensitive to nausea. Please continue the medicine if it is helpful. No pain - no gain.

Hello, there are much better medications available for ocd that shows respose within a month. Also read exposure and response prevention therapy and apply it on yourself with the help of your family member or psychiatrist. You do not need to carry this problem when such promising and quick treatment is available.

I have taken so many counselling sessions but not fully cured. Yes medicines and cbt helps but I am not coming out of my illnesses fully. So I have read about transcendental meditation and decided to learn transcendental meditation and do it daily. I want to stop my medicines intake, it is making me fat and just want to enjoy my life like earlier. Doctors can transcendental meditation cure my these illnesses fully?

The transcendental meditation and deciding to learn transcendental meditation and do it daily will help your mind but you may not be able to avoid medications and need to discuss with your treating doctor.

I am taking aripiprazole, fluvoxamine maleate extended and clobazam for ocd for the past 2 days at night prescribed by doctor. After taking it the first day night, from next day morning I started feeling sleepy, tired and also have diarrhoea two times a day and chills. Is this sleepiness and tiredness because of the tablets? And also I slept late at night at 12: 00 on that day when I took the tablets. So does the tablets cause sleepiness and tiredness because I slept late? And it's been 3 days and I am feeling the same sleepiness and tiredness. What should I do?

Hello, clobazam is never taken for a long period. Sleepiness is due to clobazam mostly. Try tapering off clobazam. For initial 7 days take half the dose then for next 7 days one fourth of the dose then stop clobazam.

I am 23 year old female and I was diagnosed with ocd, generalised anxiety and panic disorder over 7 years ago. I have tried a few different scars over the years, some have really helped and others have not had great side effects so have had to stop. I was recently on lips (fluvoxamine) and have been on 100 mg for 6 weeks. My psychiatrist has decided to take me off of it because it was causing really bad fatigue and gi side effects/rapid weight loss that was interfering with my life. I am now going to try prozac which I think will be good for me. I have read some stories about withdrawing from luvox online and I am very nervous. The plan from my psychiatrist is to drop from 100 mg to 50 mg of luvox for 5 or so days and then stop altogether, then the following day begin prozac at 10 mg for 4 days, then increase to 20 mg and stay on that dose. He said I should not have any issues or any significant issues with withdrawals in this method, as I am going to be replacing the ssri with prozac, but I am still very nervous. Do you think dropping from 100 mg to 50 mg is going to cause me seizures/vomiting or severe withdrawal effects etc? Do you think this way is okay? He said if I am having significant problems I can drop to 25 mg luvox for a few days after 50 mg and then start on the prozac the following day and he was very insistent I would be okay, but I am very worried. Does this change seem okay? I have always cross tapered medicine, never directly switched so I am very scared it's going to cause intolerable withdrawals. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user,
both fluvoxamine and prozac are ssris. The anxiety and fear of severe withdrawal is a part of your ocd. Please withdraw from 100 to 50 and stop. No need to go for 25 mg - may not be available. No withdrawal will happen, since it is at a lowest dose. Usually fluoxamine will be withdrawn from 300 - 400 mg/day.
