I am suffering from religious ocd since 10 yrs. As my problem is vulgar hesitated to share to even parents. Resulted in a great loss of my career. 6 months back I started using allopathy treatment of fluvoxamine & clomipramine tablets. Unwanted repeated thoughts were almost diminished but couldn't concentrate at all on anything. If I tried to read or think immediately some unwanted thoughts used to intrusive me more harder and deeper. If I look at any god's image some sexual scenes or private parts pics appear as if it were present to them. I completely drenched in ocd, as bad unwanted vulgar thoughts appear on god I couldn't concentrate at all as a result there was huge lose on my education & job. I would want to know what to do to cure my ocd. Is there complete cure in allopathy or homeopathy or in ayurveda. Which treatment is better & efficient. Plze help me.

Sexual ocd is very common and highly distressing. It happens to due altered serottonergic systems in certain parts of the mind (brain). You need long term treatment with ssris understand the disorder and take proper treatment so that the thoughts reduce or remit and the associated distress is also addressed. Without knowing about the illness and expecting a magical cure is impossible or highly unlikely. So better consult a psychiatrist and take regular treatment. With regular treatment you can l...more

Ideally, no. But there are instances where stimulants are tried in few cases. I would suggest not to try them.

The most effective solution for dealing with anxiety for me personally was waking up early. I am not a morning person but once I tried this, I was surprised how good this made me feel. It helped me find peace and calm myself down. Having so much time in my hand I could do small things that made me happy and I felt a sense of accomplishment just by waking up early. I feel the most anxious during the night- so sleeping early really helped me tackle it to a great extent.

I think there is need to optimise your treatment and enhance your social connections. I know it is difficult to find a meaningful reason to live sometimes. But it is a transient phase, keep calm and contact your paychiatrist for optimising your treatment and take cbt sessions from psychologist which will help you restructure your thoughts and thereby you shall know what to do for a living once you are better. All the best.

Dear lybrate-user,
as you have rightly pointed out fluvoxamine does have side effects of drowsiness which is why you may probably feel lethargic & sleepy. Keeping your age in mind I suggest you start with therapy along with medication. cognitive-behavioral therapy (cbt), a type of psychotherapy, is effective for many people with ocd. Exposure and response prevention (erp), a component of cbt therapy, involves gradually exposing you to a feared object or obsession, having you learn ways to re...more

If it is not suitable for you then kindly go for natural remedies with advanced psychological therapies. Only medication with never help to get rid of ocd in any way. So try therapies like lfms, mbcbt, eft, erp, bach medicine for better result. Consult a good psychologist or psychotherapist in your area. Otherwise you may get help from me.

Do sports (at home, if you feel more confortable) but 3x 30min/week.
Eat more greens, oilseeds, fresh fruits and food rich in magnesium such as: raw spinach, fish, beans, lentils, avocados, brown rice, bananas, figs and chocolate.
If you have a pet, cuddle with it more often and take care of it. It will make you shift your focus from anxiety to something else.
Try to catch the sun everyday for 10mins.
Check your levels of vit D and B12 (adjust with supplements if needed).
