Go for MRI to rule out CS issue and to know any soft tissues or any nerve root compression and consult with orthopaedician.

Take him to physiotherapy clinic and get treatment with ift+us for 10 days, the pain will get reduced, after a week of sessions, ask for cervical strengthening exercises, whicb needs to done for a month.
