The stitches on the inside will dissolve in about 2 to 3 weeks. Any stitches or staples used on the outside need to be removed in about 7 to 14 days, depending on the location. It is normal to have some clear or bloody discharge on the wound covering or bandage (dressing) for the first few days after surgery.

Pus comes from wound because of infection.
Do daily dressing of wound and apply topical antiseptic agents and oral antibiotics after consultation with your doctor.

The bacteria that cause necrotizing soft tissue infections are usually introduced when a small cut or scrape becomes contaminated with soil or saliva so anyone can be infected. Those at greater risk are those with an open wound, even a small cut, especially if it has been in contact with dirt or bacteria in the mouth.

Gently wash the area with mild soap and water to keep out germs and remove debris. To help the injured skin heal, use petroleum jelly to keep the wound moist. Petroleum jelly prevents the wound from drying out and forming a scab; wounds with scabs take longer to heal.

If the earrings are on too tightly, not allowing room for the wound to breathe and heal, an infection can develop. A piercing can also get infected if there's too much handling of the piercing or the post of the earring is rough.

Antibiotics will only prevent infection so that it does not disrupt the normal healing process. The body needs it's own time to heal wounds. You can help by taking a protein rich diet like milk and eggs and regular dressing as advised to prevent infection.
