Normally, it takes around 2 to 3 weeks to walk without crutches after the acl surgery. There are a few exercises that your doctor may recommend you such as swimming and cycling. These physical activities don't put much pressure on your knee and also help in quick recovery.

In the majority of people, the functioning of the knee will be the same as it was before the acl surgery. However, your knee won't be exactly the same as it was before the injury. You may feel some pain and swelling while doing physical activities.

Acl tears might be complete or partial. For complete acl tears, surgery is usually required. Partial acl tears, however, may be treated through non-surgical methods.

Majority of people recover from acl tears within 6 to 9 months. Acl tears generally occur to people who play sports like football, volleyball, basketball, etc, and also to people who are aggressively engaged in physical activity. Most athletes require surgery as it is important for them to get back to normal position as they will again require sharp movements while playing sports.
