A eardrum burst due to trauma takes about 4-6 weeks to heal. Avoid entry of water in your ear while having bath. And keep the ear completely dry.

Perforation in the eardrum should be closed by tympanoplasty. This prevents recurrent ear discharge, improves hearing and prevents further complications. The drawbacks are, it is not successful in all cases .you should follow certain precautions in the postoperative period until the graft has taken.
