You must always ask for the diagnosis and find out what you are being treated for. If the doctor is not willing to share it with you, at least s/he can share it with the person who was accompanying you. You are being treated for a serious condition and must be enjoined with therapy too. If you are cooperative, you can lead a normal life and can live with your wife too. Depending on your behavior, you may be restricted if you are violent, abusive, or too dysfunctional. If you visit a therapist, y...more

Hello,
your questions are more philosphical, obviously the husband has not disclosed his problem before matrimony. The main thing is that sulpitac is used for mental disorders like schizophrenia. But a better approach will be to visit the doctor with the wife who can explain all the details about her husband including the diagnosis, need for medication etc. In any case these disorders can be manged sucessfully and all details should now be atleast privy to the wife.

Dear Lybrate user,
it must be hard going through these tough times. I would suggest that instead of medications you go for psychological counseling/therapy. Therapy will help you vent and deal with your concerns with certain strategies, skills and techniques. Therapy can empower you with life skills, help you cope and make you self- reliant. It'll also help you in the long term, and the skills you learn in therapy will help you deal with future stressful situations. It's important to face th...more

Good Day.. I can understand your concern. There reason for water retention or edema are many. In Ayurvedic terms its an imbalance of Water energy or Kapha in the body. Food, Medicine, your lifestyle, Thought/Overthinking/Depression etc can influence this factor.
So it's important to look at a holistic aspect to identify the reason behind this symptom.
Feel free to reach me online to understand the both physical and emotional symptoms to recommend suitable alternative solutions.more

Hello,
as the scientific knowledge is scanty it becomes difficult to follow psychiatric patients on ayurevedic treatment. I suggest you continue with your psychiatrist.

If you are not going to use the medication, it is going to be very tough. In that case, you will need to not only work with a counselor but also do a lot of lifestyle changes as advised by a CBT therapist, and completely comply with all the expectations. My recommendation is for you to not rush coming off of the medication right now. The combination of medication with the therapy is ideal and the prognosis will be relatively good. Oftentimes, there can be overlapping symptoms and conditions betw...more
