Hello lybrate-user, return of menstrual blood after months or even years after menopause is commonly observed and I don;'t see a need for panic here. Yet, to be on the safer side for the purpose of ruling out any underlying pathology (fibrocystic growths in and around uterus are common in that age group) I would advise that she gets an "ultrasound tvs" done (get it done 2-3 days after the bleeding has ceased).
In case there is too much blood or the bleeding continues for too many days or she experiences symptoms such as excessive pain or fever or swelling etc you should take her to the nearest gynaecologist. For any further clarity on this, you may reach me.
