Dear lybrate-user,
the patient has two manifestation or major neurologic symptoms dystonia and now paranoia and hallucinations. As he was started on pacitane (trihexiphenidyl) for dystonia then he developed neuropsychiatric complaints. I would like to explain all the symptoms due to a single cause rather than bring in a new diagnosis. Pacitane has side effect of hallucinations and paranoid behaviour. That may be the cause rather than schizophrenia, I suggest taper pacitane and see the result...more

Usually patient with allergic sinusitis tends to get recurrent polyps, so even after Nasal surgery patient has to be on regular follow up and get nasal endoscopy done once in a year for the initial 3 years. You can use medication to get rid of these polyps to a great extend.

Septoplasty is done if you have blocking of the nose. For nasal polyps if they are small a steroid nasal spray should work but if they are multiple ones surgery is the only treatment. Polyps are on account of an allergy. They arise from the sinuses. Consult an ENT surgeon asap.

Because I have frequent running nose and congestion due to which I am unable to breath properly, it gets worsen in winter season, time to time I have to clean my nose which is very disturbing. Even I was continuously under medication with two doctors when I was not getting satisfaction with the 1st one after 7-8 months medication. Both were ENT specialist. 1st doctor said that it is sinus after x-ray, AND 2nd one said that it is swelling. Now I am taking homoeopathic medicine from local homoeopathic store. Even now I am very disturb due to this. The main reason of being worried about it because I want to join indian airforce & due to this I will be rejected in medical test. So please tell me that what kind of allergy is this and what is the treatment for permanent relief.

Hello, the Polyps in the nose result from the allergy in the Nose. First thing that we need to rule out is the presence of fungus and fungal allergy. Second is the aspirin sensitivity which is associated with asthma as well. Thirdly we need to rule out any structural or anatomical abnormality in the nose. Forth one we need to get rid of the nasal polyp either with medical polypectomy or surgical. Fifthly we need to pin point the exact offending allergen. The nasal polyposis is a complicated dise...more

Hi,
snoring is not a disease. Snoring occurs when a person is not able to move the air through the nose and throat while sleeping. As a result, the air vibrates the surrounding tissues and causes snoring sound.
Please follow these tips to stop snoring:
- reduce your weight if you are obese. - perform pranayama (breathing exercises) everyday.
- quit smoking which irritates the mucosal layer of the nose and throat and causes blockage and results in snoring. - quit alcohol and sedat...more

Colon polyp removal, also known as colon polypectomy, refers to the removal of abnormally grown tissues from the mucous membrane or the inside lining of the large intestine or colon. Since there are some particular types of polyps that tend to develop into cancer, early removal of polyps through surgery is essential, once diagnosed. Like every surgery, colon polyp removal has its own set of post-op guidelines to aid recovery and avoid risks and complications.

Even though Ayurveda is an established medical science but I have some reservations for advising you to follow it for your kid. More so because she has a history of pneumonia. Please visit an ENT surgeon or pediatric surgeon for the definitive treatment of nasal polyps. As far as I know the nasal decongestants are not advisable for kids, at the most the Nasoclear is saline based nasal drops you can use for her along with steam inhalation. The nasal polyps are best managed by surgical excision. T...more
