Please quit smoking and continue with your high motivational level NOT to restart. Within 3 -6 months, your lungs will be clear. You can do breathing exercises at home. You should not be with friends who smoke. Passive smoking also affects lungs. Try hard and persistently. All the best.

To quit smoking, see that a) chewable products like nicotine substitutes are useful temporarily in beginning
b) realizing that the ingredients are intoxicants lead, etc
c) develop higher taste with determination
d) develop higher taste like food, music,e) Smoking is like an itch, you have to tolerate the urge to smoke and the itch goes away
f) Best and most effective way is to practise transcendental meditation by reading Srila Prabhupada's books
