Usually, small cell lung cancers are difficult to treat than the non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) ones. Again, metastasis into distant organs complicates stuff and tends to reduce the chances of a cure. A conventional treatment can include...more

If the spinal compression is causing symptoms like weakness of arms and legs, then surgery is needed first as failing that the paralysis will worsen. Once he recovers from that, we can immediately start the chemo. For adenocarcinoma we also have lot of targeted chemotherapy oral medicines which can be given, so ask you Oncologist to do tests for those if not already done.

Dear lybrate-user,
after cancer chemotherapy hemoglobin and blood count is likely to go down. If it is severely down then blood transfusion is indicated. I hope he must be already on blood forming and stimulating agents. If not they can be used on weekly or fortnightly or monthly basis. Your doctor will advise you. Secondly chemotherapy should be suspended till there is regeneration of hemoglobin.

Hi lybrate-user,
I appreciate you seeking help. Your problems seem to be mostly due to allergy. To clear off the sticky mucous, drinking half a glass of luke warm water in which a teaspoonful of fresh honey, 1/4 tsp turmeric, little bit of grated ginger and about 2 pieces of black pepper (grind) are mixed properly would help. You can take this twice daily after food. As an alternative to the above-mentioned, you may as well take 10 ml of Dabur Honitus syrup, thrice daily. Its in your best in...more

In most of the stage 3B lung cancers they are not operable so chances of their cure are less.and further prognosis also depends the type of lung cancer it is and its molecular make up. these days targeted therapies based on the receptor studies of tumour have added some extra life to lung cancer patients over and above the conventional chemotherapy
