lax lower esophageal sphincter means that the lower end of esophagus which connects to the stomach is not as tight as expected. It would explain any symptoms of indigestion ,belching, reflux of food into the mouth, heart burn that he might be having. Weight reduction, avoiding lying down immediately after food are known to help. Hope this helps.

1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic) or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't overeat 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U can eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc....more

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, perfinidone is the mainstay treatment. In this condition, lung becomes like rope fibres, the size of the lungs reduces and hence there is difficulty in breathing (dam chadna) and cough is present. Mr. lybrate-user, pirfefenidone is the main drug for ild if its ipf form. Acebrophylline is not useful in ild. There are few cough syrups that wil help to reduce it.
