Non-Surgical Ultrasonic Liposuction - Know Procedure Of It!

Liposuction is a form of cosmetic surgery that utilizes a suction technique to facilitate the removal of fat from the body. Usually, the process involves insertion of cannula which are essentially thin, small and blunt tubes into the skin and is connected to an aspirator (suction device). Being an outpatient procedure, liposuction does not require an overnight stay at the hospital. Usually, local anaesthesia is administered unless the amount of fat that needs to be worked on is large. Liposuction is a procedure that is purely aesthetic in nature and reduction of weight is not main objective.

There are many techniques which are utilized in liposuction procedures. One such technique is discussed below:

Ultrasound-assisted Liposuction:

In this method, a special cannula, which transmits ultrasound waves throughout the body, is used. These ultrasonic vibrations are capable of bursting the walls of the fat cells and liquefying or emulsifying the affected fat. This makes it easier for the fat to be suctioned out of the body using the cannula. The UAL is more effective when it is focussed on the more fibrous areas such as the breast areas of males or upper back regions. However, UAL takes longer time duration than the traditional method of liposuction. Loss of blood while opting for this mode of liposuction is also comparatively less. A risk of using ultrasonic liposuction technique is the formation of seromas. These are pockets of fluid which would need to be extracted later using a needle. It is mandatory that suction-assisted liposuction be performed after ultrasonic liposuction so that the liquefied fat is removed or additional fat cells to create needed volumes for high definition liposuction are inserted.

Liposuction - Know Merits Of It!

Some people have a greater tendency to accumulate fat in specific areas of the body. Any amount of exercise or diet may not help in getting rid of this. In such cases, people can opt for liposuction, as it is a good option to get rid of this fat (usually in the upper arms, upper thighs, belly area and buttocks).

Liposuction is a term which literally means suctioning out the fat (lipo = fat). A blunt cannula (needle) is inserted into the body which sucks out the excessive fat. Laser or heat may be used in the target area to loosen the fat molecules, making it easier to remove them. Read on to know some of the other benefits of liposuction in addition.

1. Each person has a tendency to accumulate weight in different areas and may not be able to lose it with the required exercise and treatment. In these people, liposuction helps in losing fat and in improving body shape and contour.

2. Almost instantaneous results, as the procedure, is done in a couple of hours. There could be mild swelling in the area that was treated, but that may not last for more than a week.

3. In people with lipomas, which are benign fatty tumours, liposuction can completely remove them.

4. In men with excessive female hormones, gynecomastia is common (breast development in men), which can be very embarrassing. Liposuction can rescue them and can help these men by providing a complete cure.

5. Prolonged effect on the person’s weight as the fat does not accumulate immediately. Also, the weight gained will be distributed evenly and not concentrated in one particular area.

6. It can be a good remedy for excessive sweating in the armpits and chafing in the thighs.

7. Maintaining it requires lifestyle modification like healthy eating and regular exercise, which most people tend to follow, as they have seen the wonderful results of having a good shapely body.

8. The procedure also removes a lot of inflammatory cells, which are responsible for chronic conditions like osteoarthritis and heart disease. By reducing the inflammatory cells, liposuction reduces the risks of these diseases.

9. Removing excessive fat in the midsection and abdominal area can improve posture and discomfort that is common in seated positions. It can also reduce back pain and discomfort due to improper postures.

10. Removing excess fat reduces the insulin requirements as there is less amount of fat and therefore sugar to burn. This reduces the onset of type 2 diabetes.

Liposuction is a quick fix to fat accumulation, but a detailed discussion with your doctor on what to expect during and after the procedure should be the deciding factor, whether or not should you choose it.

Liposuction - Know Vital Facts About It!

Sometimes, even a strict diet and strenuous exercise don't give you the body shape you dream of. In such cases, liposuction can be the answer to the problem of excess fat you are facing. Liposuction is a surgical procedure of removing stubborn fat bulges from the body. Age is not a major consideration with liposuction as long as your skin is firm and elastic. Else, your skin may begin to sag in places where the fat has been removed. It is important to note that liposuction does not remove cellulite but only removes fat. Thus, for people with cellulite, liposuction may not give them the results they desire.

If you're thinking of undergoing liposuction, do not expect the procedure to give you a supermodel's figure. Be realistic in your expectations. Here are a few other things to keep in mind.

- Liposuction does not show instant results:
Recovery from a liposuction surgery is quick and you may be back to your normal routine within a few weeks. However, the treated area may still look swollen. This can take two to three months to subside. Hence work backwards and time your surgery with regard to major life events.

- The results are long-lasting
Undergoing liposuction surgery does not mean that you will not be overweight again, but it means that fat will not collect in the areas that have been treated. If you do gain weight, the fat will be redistributed to other areas.

-  Smoking and alcohol must be avoided
Smoking and alcohol both inhibit healing. It also increases your risk of complications during the surgery. Stop drinking and smoking at least three weeks prior to your surgery, and avoid it until your body has healed completely.

- Can be beneficial for many parts of the body
Liposuction can be performed on many areas of the body. The thighs, abdomen, breasts and buttocks are common areas where this surgery is performed. Other areas are the back, face and neck.

Like any other surgery, liposuction has its risks. While some risks are very rare, others can be quite common. Here are three minor risks that you should be aware of.

-  Excessive liposuction:
Removing too much fat can leave your skin looking unnatural and uneven.

- Skin discolouration
When making an incision for liposuction, the skin cells in the area may rupture and release melanin into the surrounding area. This can cause prolonged hyperpigmentation that can take 4-6 months to heal. Patients with a dark skin tone have a higher risk of hyperpigmentation.

- Swelling and bruising
When liposuction is performed on the lower part of the body, swelling and bruising are common side effects. This usually disappears within 2-3 days. Choosing open drainage vs. placing sutures on the incision sites can reduce the chances of this happening.

Liposuction Surgery - Know Merits Of It!

Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery that refers to the removal of excess fats from the body through suction. During liposuction, small, thin, blunt-tipped tubes (cannula) are inserted through tiny cuts in the skin.

Liposuction is used to remove fat deposits from:

  1. Thighs.

  2. Hips and buttocks.

  3. Abdomen and waist.

  4. Upper arms.

  5. Back.

  6. Inner knee.

  7. Chest area.

  8. Cheeks, chin and neck.

  9. Calves and ankles.

Different techniques are adopted in the liposuction process. Some of them are:

  1. Traditional Liposuction: In traditional liposuction, the surgeon uses a thin tube called a cannula, connected to a powerful suction pump.

  2. Tumescent Liposuction: Tumescent liposuction is similar to traditional liposuction, but experts often hail its innovative use of medication and reduced risks for complications.

  3. Super-wet Liposuction: Super-wet liposuction is a variation of the tumescent technique that uses less fluid injection.

  4. Ultrasonic Liposuction: This popular form of liposuction uses a specialized cannula that emits ultrasonic sound waves into the fat deposits to liquefy fat cells and make them easier to remove.

  5. Power Assisted Liposuction: By employing a cannula that has a vibrating tip, surgeons are able to break up fat cells for easier removal.

More and more people are turning to liposuction to help achieve their aesthetic goals. Patients benefit both mentally and physically from liposuction. In fact, liposuction has become one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world because it is a safe and effective way to remove fat and cellulite in your body. To add to its effectiveness, liposuction can be paired with a myriad of complementary procedures such as breast augmentation, tummy tuck, and even facial plastic surgery.

The benefits of liposuction include:

  • Safe removal of fat

  • Reduction of cellulite or improvement in the appearance of cellulite

  • Improved health, usually associated with fat loss

  • Changes the way you look, and the way others perceive you

  • Boost in self-esteem

  • Sculpting areas of the body that even exercise and diet don’t seem to impact

Liposuction - Why It Is So Popular?

Liposuction - Why It Is So Popular?

Laser liposuction is the process of removal of excess fatty tissue from the body through the use of laser light. This can be done both as treatment and cosmetic procedures.

Liposuction is gaining popularity because of the following reasons

  1. With changing food habits, more and more processed foods have found their way onto our plates. All this has led to increased fat in the diet and increased the incidence of obesity. The age of onset of obesity is also reduced drastically.
  2. This problem is compounded by reduced physical activity, promoting further fat accumulation.
  3. Added to this is another dimension where ‘thin is in.’ So there is a change in the definition of ‘fat’ and people want to look thin and sculpted

How it is done?

  1. The first step is to identify if the person is a candidate for this procedure
  2. Laser lipo can be done in cases of moderate to severe obesity and in people with skin laxity
  3. Cooltech body sculpting is done for targeted fat loss and body shaping
  4. The abdomen, thighs, male breasts, back, and arms are all feasible areas for liposuction
  5. The patient and surgeon should have realistic expectations in terms of results, risks, complications, and post-op process.
  6. The procedure is done under local anaesthesia or general anaesthesia depending on the extent of the surgery (area and amount of fat)
  7. Areas of operation are pre-marked and intensive laser light is directed at this area
  8. The laser is used in different layers of the skin with different intent
  9. In the deeper layers of the skin, the laser is directed at fat cell walls which are broken, and the fatty oils leak out, and these disrupted cells are then removed
  10. The amount of fat to be removed is already determined prior to the procedure
  11. The oil and disrupted cells are removed producing a better contour
  12. The next superficial layers of the skin contain blood vessels, which are also coagulated by the laser. This reduces the blood loss during the procedure and less bruising after the procedure
  13. When the laser is used on the more superficial layers, the heat causes the skin to produce more collagen and elastin, which are the essential skin proteins. This promotes healing and improves skin quality after the laser lipo is done.

Alternately, in some people, only the deeper layers are acted upon and the superficial layers are left untouched. The released oils and fat fragments are allowed to be absorbed by the body. This is more useful in areas where the skin is extremely thin, like the face overhead and neck areas. It may also be used where only skin tightening without too much fat removal is required.

Liposuction Or Lipofilling - Know Difference Between Them!

Liposuction is a common type of cosmetic surgery, which involves the removal of excess body fat. People with isolated fat deposits which are non-responsive to diet and exercise, opt for Liposuction.

On the other hand, lipofilling, a relatively recent procedure which involves grafting the individual's own fat to the parts of the body that need filling. Liposuction is used to remove fat from various parts of the body. Lipofilling involves grafting the fats taken out by liposuction to the areas that require it. Both procedures address the following areas:

1. Abdomen
2. Face & Neck
3. Buttocks
3. Knees
4. Thighs and Calves
5. Hips
6. Breasts
7. Arms and many other areas.

The procedural differences

The basic difference between the two procedures can be seen in the two words itself. In the context of fat displacement, one involves suction while the other involves filling. Liposuction involves removal of the fat while lipofilling takes an extra step to allocate the fat to the required parts of the body. Lipofilling is popular for enhancing the Buttocks also. This procedure is well known as Brazilian Buttock Lift.

Reasons for utilizing these procedures

Both procedures are opted for various reasons. Liposuction is used for reducing double cheeks, fat bulges, removing excess fats for improved sexual function or for rectifying body irregularities which cause difficulty in movement. On the other hand, lipofilling is used for breast augmentation, creating smoother contours in various parts of the body and for grafting additional muscle mass in more prominent parts of the body. The type of people likely to use it Liposuction, in general, would be opted by people with fat bulges while on the other hand lipofilling would be opted by people with contour deficits.

Liposuction Surgery - Know More About It!

Liposuction is a body contouring cosmetic procedure that helps removal of excess fat cells from the body which is resistant to both diet and exercise by a suction technique. Liposuction can be done under general anesthesia if the regions are extensive and multiple or even under local anesthesia with sedation when the region is small. A tumescent solution containing an agent called lidocaine (numbing solution) and epinephrine (to reduce bleeding) is infiltrated to the region to be liposuctioned prior to the procedure.

Liposuction removes fat deposits from various regions like:

  1. Thighs.

  2. Hips and buttocks.

  3. Abdomen and waist.

  4. Upper arms.

  5. Back.

  6. Around the knee.

  7. Chest area.

  8. Cheeks, chin and neck.

  9. Calves and ankles.

Liposuction is not a weight reduction procedure nor is it a treatment for cellulite.

Various techniques adopted for liposuction are:

  1. Traditional Liposuction: This is a suction assisted procedure whereby fat is sucked out through a cannula placed under the skin and connected to high-pressure vacuum suction.

  2. Ultrasonic Liposuction: This uses a specialized cannula that emits ultrasonic sound waves into the fat deposits to liquefy them making easier removal by suction.

  3. Power-Assisted Liposuction: This is carried out by employing a cannula that has a vibrating tip that enables surgeons to break up fat cells for easier removal.

  4. Laser-Assisted Liposuction: This breaks down fat cells using laser energy.

More and more people are turning to liposuction to help achieve their aesthetic goals. Patients benefit both mentally and physically from liposuction. In fact, liposuction has become one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world because it is a safe and effective way to remove excess fat from your body.

In short, liposuction is an effective method of fat removal which contours your body and boosts your self-esteem and image.
