In the absence of known etiological factors, the taking of a biopsy should be considered, particularly in case of a non-reticular lesion, in order to exclude the possibility of epithelial dysplasia or even carcinoma in situ or invasive squamous cell carcinoma.

Most cases of lichen nitidus donot require treatment. Creams can be used like
1.primecrolimus
2.tacrolimus
steroids can be used like hydrocortisone 1 ointment and methylprednisolone aceponate 0.1 %
there is no definite cause of lichen nitidus.
Most cases of lichen nitidus donot require treatment.
Some doctors treat lichen nitidus with photo therapy also.
