It depends on the stage of varicose veins. In the initial stages, it can be managed without surgery. But as the symptoms and varicose veins progress, intervention is required. There is no single one shot lifetime treatment for varicose veins. You will have to change certain aspects of lifestyle and take care of your veins, otherwise it can reappear in any stage of life. Laser treatment is usually safe for pigmentation if got done by an expert with good experience of using laser but it can still lead to some side effects.
In darker individuals there can be hyperpigmentation, worsening or recurrence of the skin condition for which laser is being done. These are unpredictable and can occur inspite of all the precautions.
