I understand that you have been fairly alright with having varicose veins for the last 30 years. But body has a tolerance. If your scan is showing damage which requires it to be treated, it is better to undergo the procedure in order to avoid complications. Skin damage in Varicose veins is not completely reversible. Any procedure associated with Varicose veins has a 10-15% risk of recurrence. I am not sure as to who does laser varicose vein procedure at Kolkata.

If it is paining and swelling then it's definitely time for you to get treatment. Surgery costs approx 20-25000, but cost may vary between different centres. Laser treatment for varicose veins is the latest, but it's costly (approx 1 lakh)

Common side effects include redness of the skin, swelling of the treated area, and moderate irritation similar to the feeling produced by a mild sunburn. In rare cases involving laser skin resurfacing, side effects such as burning, scarring, or a change in the pigmentation of the skin have occurred

Varicose veins result in non healing ulcers, you need to get your varicose vein operated, then only that ulcer will heal. There r many surgical options for the same. Meanwhile do regular dressings.

Being HIV positive is not a contraindication for treatment of varicose veins. Most of the cities in India have trained vascular surgeons. Please consult one in or near the place of your residence and get the treatment done. Take care.
